Hampton, NJ location to support design engineering activities in the North American aftermarket business. This exciting role
(Engineering Manager) comes with the opportunity for growth and being part of a team addressing technical and environmental challenges to repower the North American utility and industrial sector, using its in-house legacy OEM technology.
Serves as an in-house expert in mechanical engineering as it relates to the organization's products and services. Primary responsibility is the management of a group of technical personnel.
The successful candidate must be a highly motivated individual who can demonstrate leadership and decision-making skills, work as part of a team and interact with clients. The preferred candidate will be office based in our New Jersey location.
Responsibilities- Supervise a group of design engineers and drafting personnel and manage all workflow for the team.
- Mentor and develop the existing engineering team as you direct the department staff.
- Develop and maintain client relationships.
- Familiar with all pertinent codes and standards such as ASME Section 1, NFPA etc.
- Advise engineering solutions and recommendations to project managers and designers.
- Review/check Wood and vendor created drawings and calculations.
- Coordinate the flow of information and drawing preparation with 3rd party design companies.
- Client visits to present, inspect, or collect information, for proposal or contract work. Should be willing to travel to jobsites in North America.
- Maintain and update current engineering standards as required
- Review client technical specifications.
- Review vendor quotes versus project requirements.
- Proposal preparation and cost estimates.
- Review vendor requests for material substitutions and approve as appropriate
Qualifications- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, advanced degree preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize engineering principals in equipment design.
- Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, strong technical writing, and presentation abilities.
