Engineering Manager

Miba HydraMechanica, Sterling Heights, Michigan

Fulltime

Performance management to ensure highest engineering standards at
competitive cost
• Setting of Miba engineering standards according to market requirements /
company policy (AG, FD, MHC) and assurance of compliance
• Manage the engineering department staff - work load distribution based
on capability, training, performance evaluation
• Manage various engineering roles - designer, project and product engi-
neers, SAP standards
• Approve engineering drawings, engineering change notice, engineering
specifications and engineering reports
• Represents and acts as company spokesperson on engineering issues and
solutions with customers
• Act as MHC internal technical advisor to management team
• Work closely with Frictec R&D to solve technical issues and related cus-
tomer and plant technical needs and help find solutions
• Lead MHC COC team activities and provide data and conclusions
• Lead PFMEA activities as needed
• Lead DVP&R activities as needed
• Setting and monitoring of process parameters and define corrective
actions as required
• Support and Participate in APQP teams as needed
• Support manufacturing engineering needs for technical solutions
• Support Quality department - root cause, issue resolution, technical
infor-mation
• Support MHC management team in planning for future production needs and
technology
• Participation in internal and external audits
• Work closely with customers on application requirements
• Troubleshoot engineering issues as needed
• Design and trouble shoot customer designs and the associated Miba man-
ufacturing process
• Work as the primary interface with the customer to support new product
launches, prototype manufacturing and customer testing, and the APQP process
• Work with our customers and our manufacturing team to suggest and de-
velop cost reduction ideas
• Lead product clinics, both internally and with our customers
• Assist in the investigation of root cause of failures and defects
• Develop knowledge of the customer's brake, clutch, AWD fiction systems
• Update management and sales team regarding customer projects
• Travel to customers, suppliers, or other Miba locations as required for
scheduled and short notice meetings
• Provide technical support to the sales team and other departments
• Provide the R&D team with information on new and existing technical
needs
• Utilize common business software (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), CAD,
Minitab, and other software systems as required
• Communicate with customers and internally, in both written and verbal
means to the appropriate level of technical "depth"
• Evaluate information and summarize facts into accurate concise reports
• Drive the technical solution within the Miba organization
• Communicate the solution to the customer
• Set DVP&R validation targets for new business development projects
• Scout technical trend on a system level in the different target SBS's
• Generate the input design layout for Product Engineering to design the
part
• Provide design to cost leadership
• Support part failure analysis from customer testing or in the field
• Cooperation with global technology engineering at division level.
