POSITION SUMMARY
The Engineering Manager plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of the Engineering Department to support the successful production of high-quality products. This role collaborates closely with Production, Quality, Contracts, Purchasing, and other Sioux Manufacturing Corporation departments to ensure engineering accuracy, efficient manufacturing processes, timely problem resolution, and the delivery of products that meet customer, regulatory, and company requirements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership and direction to the Engineering team by prioritizing and assigning work, monitoring performance, and fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration. Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, performance management, and disciplinary processes to develop and maintain a high-performing engineering department.
- Develop and provide labor, material, capital equipment, tooling, and facility estimates to support bids, proposals, and new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Facility and Equipment Manager to identify, evaluate, and plan capital equipment and tooling requirements that support current and future manufacturing needs.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of all manufacturing processes, including their capabilities, limitations, and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure accurate and comprehensive build instructions, manufacturing documentation, and work instructions are developed, maintained, and released to support efficient, repeatable production processes.
- Provide technical support to Production by supplying expertise on manufacturing processes, tooling, equipment, materials, and production methods to ensure efficient and effective operations.
- Establish, validate, and maintain accurate material usage and labor standards to support production planning, cost control, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and implement tooling and fixtures that optimize manufacturing processes, improve efficiency, and enhance product quality.
- Control engineering documentation by developing, reviewing, approving, and maintaining material specifications, manufacturing process documentation, work instructions, and machine software programs.
- Prepare, manage, and monitor the Engineering Department operating budget, ensuring effective use of resources and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing, labor, equipment, and process issues to minimize downtime and support efficient production.
- Provide technical guidance and training on the operation of production equipment, including program loading, equipment setup, and safe, effective operation.
- Maintain accurate part master data within the Visual Manufacturing ERP system.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal departments, customers, suppliers, and other external stakeholders to support projects, resolve technical issues, and achieve organizational objectives.
ADDITIONAL RESONSIBILITIES
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, manufacturing processes, and applicable regulations through technical research, professional development, and participation in industry meetings and training.
- Assess production demands and provide recommendations regarding engineering and manufacturing labor requirements to support operational objectives and future growth.
- Provide technical expertise and engineering support to departments across the organization as needed to resolve issues and support business objectives.
- Attend and actively participate in meetings as required to support departmental and organizational initiatives.
- Support and promote the Quality Management System (QMS) by ensuring engineering activities comply with established policies, procedures, customer requirements, and applicable standards.
- Actively participate in the business development team by researching new programs and products, collaborating with customers to gather technical requirements, supporting proposal development, and participating in customer and internal planning meetings.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of business and management principles; strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and their applications.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services, which includes assessing customer needs and meeting quality standards.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Required: Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline; 5 years of engineering experience and/or operations experience; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred: Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, preferred.
