Job DescriptionAXIS ENGINEERING- Maintenance Technician ApprenticeRESPONSIBILITIES:- Support the Company's mission, vision, values and goals in performance of daily activities.
- Lead and supervise the engineering team and machine shop by providing performance management, mentoring, coaching, training, corrective action, and talent development to ensure a high-performing, accountable workforce.
- Provide strategic leadership for all engineering activities, aligning departmental objectives with corporate business plans and driving continuous improvement through measurable goals and performance metrics.
- Direct engineering process improvements and structured problem-solving efforts to resolve customer, quality, and operational issues while supporting cost reduction initiatives.
- Foster a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies, maintaining safe work practices, verifying proper use of PPE and safety devices, and promoting excellent housekeeping standards.
- Ensure engineering and machine shop staff have the training, tools, resources, and support necessary to perform their responsibilities safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to strengthen teamwork, maintain positive relationships across all organizational levels, and effectively coordinate engineering goals and communications.
- Support business growth by contributing to quoting, pricing, capacity planning, program management, and other business development activities.
- Partner with customers and suppliers to meet or exceed customer expectations and maintain strong external relationships.
- Oversee departmental staffing levels and budget performance to ensure efficient resource utilization and achievement of operational objectives.
- Support corporate quality initiatives by driving compliance with industry standards and certifications (e.g., IATF 16949/TS 16949, ISO 14001) and contributing to customer recognition and quality excellence.
QUALIFICATIONS:• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in Engineering or Engineering cross discipline. Master's Degree preferred.
• Minimum eight (8) years' experience in an automotive/metals/assembly environment, and two (2) years of management experience.
• Possess knowledge of plant department functions.
• Demonstrated experience in applying lean manufacturing concepts
• Proven leadership ability and excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to interpret financial and performance data
• Vision and ability to translate progressive operating techniques into applications and results.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to read and write in English and to perform mathematical computations
• Ability to mentor and teach the team in effective problem-solving methods.
• Knowledge of standard quality practices.
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
• Computer literacy and good knowledge of Microsoft Office
