Job DescriptionPurpose: To plan, organize, and direct the activities of the Engineering and Reliability Departments
Responsibilities:
1. Set priorities and direct the Engineering and Reliability Departments in day-to-day activities. Cast a vision and develop capital investment strategies to ensure reliable and cost-effective operation.
2. Develop, communicate, budget, and implement capital projects that will improve safety, reduce costs, improve operating efficiency, and improve plant systems.
3. Develop capital investment strategies for infrastructure and manufacturing assets.
4. Provide technical guidance and engineering for upgrades, replacements, new systems, equipment, and construction projects.
5. Evaluate daily, weekly, and monthly downtime and efficiency reports to determine productivity levels and identify improvement opportunities.
6. Review and provide technical advice to maintain and revise preventative maintenance programs. Assist with planning and project management to ensure preventative maintenance compliance.
7. Oversee hiring, training, and development of technical employees within the Engineering and Reliability Department. Evaluate personnel merits for annual pay increases and make recommendations to leadership.
8. Maintain and enforce all company safety, environmental and department of health requirements.
9. Serve as a technical leader, mentor, and subject matter expert and effectively communicate with regional, divisional, and corporate leadership.
10. Tasks assigned by the Plant Director.
Authorities:
1. Pause activity and notify Safety lead in any facility regarding instances of potentially unsafe work environments or employee and supplier practices.
2. Initiate action to prevent occurrences of any non-conformity of product or quality systems.
3. Identify, communicate, initiate, and track actions for continual improvement to products, processes, facilities, and systems.
4. Request capital project funds using the Capital Expenditure database.
5. Enter purchase requisitions and manage capital spending using JD Edwards software.
6. Review and approve purchase requisitions made by direct reports.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering with relevant experience.
2. 5+ years of experience in project engineering related to manufacturing preferred.
3. Previous supervisory work experience.
4. Proven ability to lead, motivate and direct employees.
5. Proven ability to conceptualize, design, lead and manage improvement projects.
6. Skilled in planning and budgeting for department activities.
7. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
8. Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
