THE PRACTICE:

This role will align to the R&D Design & Engineering practice.

R&D Design and Engineering professionals link engineering and product development spend to business value, unlocking new sources of growth for our clients. They operate at the core of our clients’ product and service value chains; fusing hardware, software, connectivity and cloud, coupled with supporting engineering systems, data and AI, to drive competitiveness while ensuring business results.

Engineering Consultants define and design the end-state product engineering organizational, operational, and technical models to enable modernization of core engineering functions and the ability to start introducing software, analytics, and cloud into the products.

THE WORK:

The Engineering Consulting Senior Manager – Delivery Lead role is responsible for leading and delivering large‑scale engineering and digital transformation programs for Accenture’s Industry X clients. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, technology, and business transformation, with primary accountability for end‑to‑end delivery excellence, client outcomes, and team leadership.

Senior Managers in this role are trusted client leaders who own complex delivery engagements, manage multi‑disciplinary teams, ensure commercial and operational rigor, and drive measurable business value across product development, engineering, manufacturing, and supporting engineering systems.

You will support our clients across a broad range of industries to address their issues related to:

  • Engineering transformations which optimize organization structure, new product development processes, R&D spend and product lifecycle management systems

  • Digitizing the Engineering function with technologies like Digital Thread / Twin, Robotic Process Automation, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, etc.

  • Zero-based product cost management through value analysis, value engineering and Design to Value assessments

  • Product Strategies including Product as a Service, Platform Ecosystems and Sustainable Products

  • Innovation Management and Product Portfolio Optimization balancing voice of customer and cost to serve

You will work closely with our clients and internal teams to:

  • Deliver programs focused on engineering transformation, including R&D modernization, product engineering, and digital engineering enablement

  • Spot, isolate, and solve engineering problems using your skills in:

    • Advanced analytics – Return on R&D costs, Product Cost, Business case models

    • Should-cost modelling – Direct / COGS (incl. metals, plastics, electronics etc.)

    • Operating model architecture – people, process technology

  • Oversee implementation of engineering systems and platforms (e.g., PLM, engineering data, digital thread, analytics, cloud‑enabled engineering)

  • Guide teams in designing future‑state engineering operating models, processes, and organizational structures

  • Ensure alignment between engineering strategy, technology architecture, and execution realities

You will be responsible for client delivery and program leadership:

  • Lead end to end delivery of complex engineering consulting programs, from initiation through execution and stabilization

  • Own delivery outcomes across scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk, ensuring commitments are met or exceeded

  • Serve as the primary client delivery lead, building trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders

  • Translate client business and engineering objectives into executable delivery plans and operating model

  • Drive resolution of delivery risks, dependencies, and issues in fast paced, multi-vendor environments

You will be responsible for financial, commercial and contract management:

  • Own engagement financials, including forecasting, margin management, and invoicing

  • Manage contractual obligations, change control, and commercial governance

  • Balance delivery rigor with flexibility to adapt to evolving client needs

You will also, throughout your work, have opportunities to:

  • Lead small (2-5) to large (20-40) sized teams, with diverse backgrounds, skills, and knowledge

  • Effectively manage and coach others, collaborating with internal and external parties

  • Support client sales origination and thought leadership development

  • Support proposal development, estimates, and functional scope definition for new work

  • Challenge legacy ways of working using constructive techniques that fuel client growth

  • Contribute to delivery standards, methodologies, and assets within Engineering Consulting

  • Support account growth through delivery excellence, client trust, and identification of follow‑on opportunities

  • Act as a role model for Accenture’s values, leadership expectations, and delivery discipline

  • Drive a positive impact in the communities where we work and live

Travel will be required for this role. The amount of travel will vary from 0 to 100% depending on business need and client requirements.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience working on engineering improvement initiatives

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a Fortune 500 company, contributing to a dynamic and high-performance work environment

  • Proven experience leading large, complex programs in engineering‑intensive environments

  • Strong background in product engineering, R&D, manufacturing, or engineering systems

  • Experience in one or more priority client Industries:

    • Aerospace & Defense

    • Automotive

    • Consumer Goods & Services

    • Medical Technology

    • High Tech

    • Industrial Equipment

  • Experience with Engineering systems and platforms such as:

    • Aras

    • Dassault Systems

    • Microsoft Copilot

    • Oracle PLM

    • PTC

    • SAP PLM

    • Siemens

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:

  • Prior experience in a consulting environment (Big 4 or global systems integrator preferred)

  • Familiarity with Agile or hybrid delivery methods

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi‑disciplinary teams and senior client stakeholders

  • Experience owning program financials, delivery governance, and risk management

  • Experience delivering transformation involving PLM, digital thread, cloud, data, or AI-enabled engineering

  • Experience related to key technologies (Digital Thread / Twin, MBSE, Robotic Process Automation, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, etc.)

  • Previous engineering experience

  • Experience with large‑scale PLM implementations or transformations

  • Experience with CAD and PLM systems

  • Ability to effectively manage and coach others

  • A collaborative mindset, are a team player

  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (minimum 8 years' work experience). If Associate’s degree, must have equivalent minimum 6-year work experience. Industrial or engineering degree is preferred
