Engineer, WasteLAB Materials

Opportunity

Join KOHLER WasteLAB® as an Engineer and play a pivotal role in transforming manufacturing waste into innovative, sustainable products that combine purpose, performance, and design. This hands-on engineering opportunity offers the chance to lead material innovation initiatives, support new product development, optimize manufacturing processes, and drive continuous improvement projects that directly advance Kohler's sustainability goals. Working cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and technical teams, you will apply your technical expertise to develop new materials, improve production capabilities, manage critical master data and reporting, and help bring groundbreaking circular-economy solutions from concept to commercialization.

Responsibilities:
  • Support WasteLAB improvement projects with a focus on materials innovation and material handling/mixing technologies.
  • Owns the WasteLAB organization's master data collection and reporting.
  • Creates standardized performance reports at the appropriate cadence.
  • Owns WasteLAB inventory recording including updating daily production, closing sales, and cycle counts.
  • Supports material sourcing projects when applicable.
  • Transitions 3rd party vendors online for services required by WasteLAB (material sourcing and production).
  • Supports all WasteLAB NPD projects by acting as a liaison between technical groups (master data, engineering, codes & standards, and marketing).
  • Supports WasteLAB MFG process and NPD projects by creating standard operating procedures.
  • Prepares project plans including technical objectives, schedule plans, maintain project records, and prepares technical, cost, and other reports to show project progress.
  • Maintain complete records of all trials performed, procedures used, and results obtained.
  • Highlight and communicate deviations from standards and guidelines. Draw basic evaluation conclusions and recommendations.
  • Supports WasteLAB capital projects by assisting in specifying equipment, designing production flows, and managing project timelines and budgets.


Skills/Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required; a Master's Degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office package: Excel, Access, and Copilot for master data collection and reporting.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Proficient in engineering statistics including but not limited to descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, and reliability engineering.
  • 2+ years of industrial manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Specific areas of expertise such as new material formulation, surface enhancement, coating development, and other material research and development related activities are desirable for this position

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation.
