Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Staff Material and Process Engineer with our ASI Division, located in Poway, CA.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide technical expertise in metallic Additive Manufacturing, metallurgical analysis, material processing, mechanical testing, nondestructive inspection, and related materials technologies.
  • Establish materials laboratory procedures. Perform material related failure investigations to determine root cause and provide corrective action recommendations.
  • Investigate and implement material related design and manufacturing process improvements.
  • Resolve manufacturing and nonconformance issues as they relate to materials and finishes.
  • Participate in Supplier Quality Audits for metallic processes and finishes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Prefer degree in materials engineering.
  • Experience with common civilian and military aerospace materials (ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, paints, adhesives/sealants, etc.), manufacturing processes (machining, heat treatment, welding, non-destructive inspection, etc.), and surface finishing techniques (anodize, conversion coatings, passivation, paints, plating, cleaning, abrasive blasting, shot peening, etc.).
  • Experience with failure investigations and materials characterization laboratory techniques.
  • Understanding of airworthiness regulations as they pertain to Materials and Processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter able to work independently and responsively to address and close issues quickly.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
