The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.

Systems Engineering Pipeline:
The Systems Engineering Talent Pipeline is a structured rotational program designed to build long-term Systems Engineering capability by developing well-rounded, early-career engineers through intentional cross-functional assignments (software, hardware, test, certification, tools).

Participants receive onboarding, mentoring, and regular competency-based evaluation, with typical rotations lasting 6 to 18 months over an ideal 2 to 3 years, to grow both breadth and depth, strengthen collaboration across silos, and improve organizational standardization and retention.
