JOB SUMMARYThe Sr. Engineer, SCADA & Automation is responsible for providing senior-level technical expertise and project execution leadership across SCADA, automation, electrical, and control systems. This role works alongside the I&E Foreman as a peer, with the depth and capability to serve as backup for that function. The ideal candidate brings strong electrical engineering credentials, hands-on integrator or controls industry experience, and the interpersonal drive to proactively engage stakeholders across the organization and in the field. Hyper focused attention to detail and diligent task tracking.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Support, follow, and improve company safety practices, programs, and environmental stewardship obligations.
- Serve as senior technical resource for PLC programming (Allen-Bradley), SCADA systems (Ignition Perspective), RTUs and flow computers (ROC 809, FloBoss, SCADAPack), field communications, and automation control systems.
- Lead and manage large automation, SCADA, communications, and department projects from initiation through completion, on schedule and within budget.
- Work alongside the I&E Foreman as a peer-level resource; serve as the designated backup for that function, capable of assisting or backing up that role.
- Support field operations to ensure equipment, systems, and sites remain reliable; travel to Pinedale field and Denver as required.
- Proactively communicate and coordinate with internal stakeholders, field personnel, and contractors in person and by phone.
- Manage contractor relationships and direct contractor activities for automation and SCADA work scopes.
- Support budget preparation and manage expenditures for assigned projects and department activities.
- Ensure SCADA data is collected, maintained, and distributed to appropriate company systems; support regulatory and environmental data requirements.
- Support drilling and completions from an I&E, SCADA, and automation standpoint.
- Stay current on emerging technologies in SCADA, automation, and control systems; champion adoption of applicable innovations.
- Other duties as required.
HIRING REQUIREMENTS- Strong safety orientation and commitment to environmental stewardship.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
- Required hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, SCADAPack RTUs, Ignition Perspective, ROC 809, and FloBoss flow computers.
- 5-7 years of experience in the integrator or controls industry.
- 5+ years of technical leadership experience in SCADA, automation, or related controls disciplines.
- Proven project management track record; able to manage scope, schedule, and budget across multiple concurrent projects.
- Extroverted and proactive communicator; initiates contact with stakeholders in person or by phone rather than waiting to be asked.
- Budget preparation and management experience; capable of owning departmental and project-level spend.
- Demonstrated contractor management capability, including scope development, oversight, and performance accountability.
- Current knowledge of emerging technologies in SCADA, automation, communications, and control systems.
- Travel capable: Pinedale field and Denver office; remote residence acceptable.
Physical Requirements: - Ability to safely lift and carry heavy tools, equipment, and materials (up to 50 lbs) on an occasional basis.
- Ability to work long shifts in challenging weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and wet environments.
- Ability to walk and navigate rough, uneven terrain across various site environments, including muddy, rocky, or icy surfaces
- Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods, including walking, standing, bending, crouching, and kneeling to perform checks, repairs or adjustment on equipment.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and vertical structures
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS PACKAGE- Salary range $151,000 - $167,000 based on level of experience
