Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Engineer Industrial/ Principal Engineer Industrial Level 2/3 to support our Industrial Engineering Team (IE). This candidate will join our team of qualified, diverse individuals on site in Melbourne, FL. Due to the nature of this role, this position requires an on-site presence and cannot be performed remotely.

The Industrial Engineering Team is an integral part of day-to-day operations and routinely works alongside many of the other organizations here in Melbourne. This is a team that comes together to learn, collaborate, and overcome challenges in a fast-paced environment. Please note: A start date, for candidates selected, will be determined after obtaining both a DOD Secret Clearance and Special Program Access and is contingent upon Business/Customer funding.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzes lead times, queue times, work-in-process, cycle times, and throughput to meet customer demand most effectively and efficiently.

  • Builds scalable and sustainable models to optimize product flow, while incorporating cost, schedule, and resource constraints

  • Develops optimized scheduling tools and aligns SAP/MRP systems with an executable plan given various capacity constraints.

  • Incorporates complex interdependencies within a system to account for the interaction of multiple cost centers, programs, equipment, and tools.

  • Communicates requirements planning and systems framework with IT, ERP, business analytics, and data science teams.

  • Works with developers to design an interactive user interface that will be effective at scheduling jobs across cost centers.

  • Guides digital transformation efforts to align with sector and enterprise strategies.

  • Leads and drives positive change using iterative and agile methodologies.

  • Creates new metrics and data visualizations to monitor shop floor performance.

This requisition may be filled at an Engineer Industrial/ Principal Engineer Industrialbased on the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications for Industrial Engineer: 

  • Bachelor's degree with 1 or more years of years of technical and/or engineering, or data analysis experience; OR a Master’s degree with 0 or more years of technical and/or engineering, or data analysis experience

  • Manufacturing Execution System (MES), MRP/SAP/Oracle or related experience

  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, and excel.

  • Experience with data mining, data analysis, or data visualization software applications.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOD Security Clearance and special program access in reasonable amount of time as required by the business prior to commencement of employment.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Industrial Engineer: 

  • Bachelor's degree with 4 or more years of technical and/or engineering, or data analysis experience; OR a Master’s degree with 3 or more years of technical and/or engineering, or data analysis experience

  • Manufacturing Execution System (MES), MRP/SAP/Oracle or related experience

  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, and excel.

  • Experience with data mining, data analysis, or data visualization software applications.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOD Security Clearance and special program access in reasonable amount of time as required by the business prior to commencement of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Defense Industry Experience.

  • Experience with macros and pivot tables

  • Experience with Visio and AutoCAD

  • Active Secret DOD clearance and Special Program Access

  • Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) Degree

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.

  • At least 2 years of demonstrated experience of engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis experience.

  • Experience with improving manufacturing workflow using optimization, modeling, or simulation methods.

  • Familiarity with mixed model manufacturing operations.

  • Experience with agile methods of project management or development.

  • Strong experience designing visualizations in Tableau in a professional work environment.

Primary Level Salary Range: $70,200.00 - $105,400.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $86,600.00 - $130,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
