Position Description:

Summary:

  • Provides engineering support to generating stations with an emphasis on chemical processes. Serves as the subject matter expert and is responsible for fleetwide SCR catalyst management, cycle chemistry, asbestos and radiation safety programs. Plans and executes SCR catalyst actions and boiler chemical cleaning projects. Establishes guidelines and procedures for controlling cycle chemistry, monitors daily chemistry reports and supports station laboratory personnel with troubleshooting.


Essential Job Tasks:

  • Verifies accuracy of condensate, feedwater, boiler water, steam, circulating water and make-up water analyses. Administers round robin program for Rainey, Winyah, and Cross laboratories to ensure accuracy of boiler chemistry procedures. Monitors condition of cycle chemistry and recommends action to restore recommended limits. Updates Boiler Chemistry Guidelines and Procedures Manual as necessary. Monitor and verify online data acquisition software is accurate (ETA PRO).
  • Responsible for assisting generating stations with boiler chemical cleaning projects. Review tube assessment reports and monitor tube deposit weights for each unit. Schedule chemical cleanings as necessary and coordinate activities with planned maintenance schedule.
  • Responsible for implementing SCR Catalyst Management Program. Coordinates sampling and testing of catalyst layers, plans and budgets for catalyst actions. Procures materials and labor and coordinates with station engineers to execute catalyst actions during planned outages.
  • During forced and planned outages, inspect deaerator, condenser (Hotwell and waterboxes), and steam drum and provide condition assessments and recommendations.
  • Assist station Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) with Radiation Safety Procedures and applicable radioactive materials regulations.
  • Inspect coal sample systems on a annual basis to ensure coal sample systems are working properly (Cross and Winyah). Update sample ratio charts weekly and review topsize results monthly and notify appropriate departments if deficiencies are discovered. Assist stations in troubleshooting activities to restore systems to proper working order. Schedule and assist with bias testing on a three year rotating schedule. Update Coal Sampling Procedures Manual as necessary.
  • Prepare requisitions, budget estimates, and other financial documentation for the procurement of contract services.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited school +8 years experience required. Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • PE license required.


Compensation Information:
$104,620 -$130,770 (min.-mid.)

Engineer III

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited school +5 years experience required. Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • FE/EIT license required.


Compensation Information:
$93,830 - $117,290 (min.-mid.)

Engineer II

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited school +2 years experience required. Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • FE/EIT license preferred.


Compensation Information:
$84,180 - $105,210 (min.-mid.)
