Remote Commissioning Engineer III

Role Overview

The Remote Commissioning Engineer III provides senior-level technical and operational support for gas turbine combined-cycle power plant commissioning through the Commissioning Support Center (CSC). The role serves as a subject matter expert during pre-commissioning, first fire, tuning, and reliability run phases, supporting multiple sites simultaneously while leading investigations and mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide real-time remote support for commissioning phases including first fire, tuning, performance validation, and reliability runs.
  • Monitor plant operating data and alarms to identify issues proactively.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause investigations for complex technical issues.
  • Coordinate corrective actions with site commissioning teams.
  • Analyze DCS, historian, and monitoring system data for diagnostics and system performance evaluation.
  • Conduct trend analysis and fault diagnostics on GT, ST, HRSG, BOP, and control systems.
  • Serve as technical liaison between site teams, engineering, IT, cybersecurity, and project management.
  • Support data connectivity and system integration activities for new plants.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements including NERC.
  • Maintain documentation including issue logs, resolutions, and lessons learned.
  • Contribute to CSC procedure development and best practices.
  • Participate in audits, reviews, and readiness assessments.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineering personnel.
  • Lead incident response and escalation activities.
  • Support preparation of test reports and data transfer to service teams.


Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 7-10 years of experience.
  • Experience with project scheduling tools such as P6 preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO procedures and OSHA safety requirements is an asset.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze technical data, interpret diagrams, and solve complex issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and email applications.
  • Ability to meet physical demands including standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds in moderate-to-loud environments.
