Job Summary
The Hardware Quality Assurance (HQA) Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and regulatory compliance of electronic products. Key responsibilities include translating product requirements into compliance design specifications, planning and executing QA test plans for new product introduction (NPI) projects, managing the end-to-end certification process for NPI products, and maintaining compliance for released products.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) project planning and take ownership of HQA deliverables.
• Develop and execute HQA test plans in alignment with Landis+Gyr standards.
• Translate product safety and regulatory requirements into high-level design specifications, utilizing standards from organizations such as ANSI, IEC, UL, FCC, ISED, and others as applicable.
• Co-own compliance deliverables for assigned projects throughout the gated NPI development process.
• Support the evaluation and selection of external compliance laboratories for assigned projects.
• Plan, manage, and coordinate compliance activities, including testing and certification for FCC/IC, electrical safety, and hazardous location requirements.
• Assist in defining compliance specifications for new products.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of quality and compliance processes.
• Manage and sustain compliance status for released products as assigned.
• Continuously update job-related skills through company-provided training and individual development plans.

Education and Experience:
• A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in an engineering or testing field or equivalent required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledgeable of hardware quality and reliability principles.
• Must demonstrate strong commitment to delivering excellence in product quality and reliability.
• Skilled in writing and executing test plans.
• Skilled in interpreting product requirements, specifications, and compliance standards.
• Experience in electronic product development (preferred).
• Skilled in reading electronic schematics.
• Familiar with FCC and ISED regulations for ISM-band digital electronic devices.
• Familiar with FCC and ISED testing and certification processes for ISM-band digital electronic devices.
• Knowledge of UL, IEC, and ANSI electrical safety compliance requirements is a plus.
• Knowledge of UL, IEC, and ANSI hazardous area compliance requirements is a plus.
• Experience working with compliance laboratories such as UL, Intertek, TÜV, and MET Labs is a plus.
• Proficient in keyboarding/typing and Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
• Working Conditions: Typical indoor office environment with the majority of time spent sitting and working on a computer using keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Occasional use of other devices such as: phone, copier/printer/fax, etc.
• Driving Status: Will drive on business for the Company 6 times or less per year.
• Physical Requirements: Typical office setting. Required to stand; walk; crouch; or handle objects. Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Ability to sit and view computer screen for long periods of time. The ability to see, hear, & speak in English. • Personal Protection Equipment/Other OHSA Safety Requirements: Ensure the continued efforts and assist in achieving annual goals of health, safety, and environmental policies. Must be current with available OSHA/Safety Training provided by the Company. If required, must be able to work while wearing safety equipment such as hard hats, work boats, gloves, hearing protection, and others.

Pay is in the range of $92,000 - $114,630 per year. The position is eligible for a 401(k) match and consideration for an annual bonus. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.
