About this Role:

The Engineer (II), Outside Plant (OSP) will bring experience in fiber network engineering and design, with a strong background in designing large to mid-scale fiber optic networks, processing service orders for engineering and construction, and working with Bentley MicroStation V8i or a similar platform. This position is pivotal in supporting our clients' infrastructure expansion and modernization efforts and reports to the Director, Broadband Services.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thinks ahead, demonstrates unwavering commitment, operates with integrity, and communicates consistently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and engineer outside plant fiber optic networks for residential, commercial, and municipal deployments
  • Create detailed construction drawings, fiber routing plans, and splice diagrams using Bentley MicroStation V8i
  • Interpret service orders and translate them into actionable engineering deliverables
  • Conduct field surveys and validate existing infrastructure for integration into new designs
  • Maintain documentation and records in accordance with company and client standards


Qualifications/Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of OSP fiber network engineering and design experience required
  • Proficient in Bentley MicroStation V8i or a similar platform, MS Office 365, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Earth required
  • Strong understanding of fiber optic technologies, construction methods, and industry standards (e.g., RUS, BICSI, NESC)
  • Experience processing service orders and generating engineering packages for construction
  • Familiarity with GIS platforms, CAD tools, and fiber management systems is a plus
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Land Use, Urban Planning, GIS, or related field preferred; or Associate's degree in Computer Aided Design required


Additional Requirements:
  • Must be able to pass a background check and, where applicable, a drug screening in accordance with client and project requirements


Compensation Range:
  • Compensation varies and based on education, experience, and location. Range $80,000 to $90,000 annually.
