Full Job Description
Within our corporate headquarters in Denver - Leprino is seeking a Utilities Engineer II (possibility for Associate, Engineer I, or Senior-level varies based on individual experience) on our Capital Projects team to move our organization to an even larger levels of infrastructure reliability and energy efficiency! At Leprino, starting compensation for Utilities Engineer II typically ranges between $104,000 and $118,000. This position has an annual target bonus of 10%.

What You'll Do:
  • Build and manage projects that improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of utilities systems across multiple Leprino facilities.
  • Lead utility-focused capital efforts including generation and distribution of electrical power, incoming water treatment, steam, compressed air, HVAC, hydronic, and ammonia refrigeration systems across concept through commissioning.
  • Participate in facility audits to assess utility infrastructure and recommend upgrades that support growth, energy efficiency, and equipment performance.
  • Write scopes of work, gather quotes, and support budgets for capital project development - you'll help shape our investments from the ground up!
  • Coordinate closely with external consultants, utility companies, contractors, and plant teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Monitor installation progress, perform site inspections, and support startup and commissioning of new systems - including safety and operational training.
  • Partner with our engineering and maintenance groups to evaluate long-term utility system health, identify performance gaps, and implement improvements.
  • Support compliance activities for utility systems with OSHA, EPA, DHS, and other regulatory groups.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by developing conservation strategies that reduce energy consumption and support our greenhouse gas reduction goals.


You Have At Least (Required Qualifications):
  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of four years of experience supporting capital projects related to industrial utilities (ammonia refrigeration, boiler and steam systems, air compressors, high-voltage power, etc.).
  • The ability to travel up to 70%.


We Hope You Have (Preferred Qualifications)
  • A master's degree in engineering.
  • Experience working on multi-site industrial utilities projects, especially those involving co-generation or GHG-reduction initiatives.
  • Background in designing or managing projects involving large scale, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety standards, relay protection schemes, and collaboration with utility companies during project implementation.
