Role

Assists in the design, development, implementation, testing, and support of connectivity solutions enabling connected machines, digital services, remote operations, and data-driven products. Collaborates with senior engineers and product teams to deliver reliable connectivity capabilities across machine, edge, network, and cloud environments while ensuring customer and business requirements are met.

What You Will Do:
  • Participate in the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of connectivity software and services.
  • Assist in developing solutions supporting machine telemetry, remote diagnostics, asset monitoring, and digital product capabilities.
  • Contribute to connectivity implementations involving:
    • Cellular technologies (LTE, LTE-M, NB-IoT, 5G)
    • Satellite communications (including Starlink)
    • Edge gateways and edge computing platforms
    • IoT communications and messaging systems
    • Cloud-connected applications and services
  • Support the development and maintenance of telemetry ingestion and data pipeline solutions.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams, software specifications, operational procedures, and testing documentation.
  • Perform software verification, validation, debugging, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Monitor and investigate connectivity, application, and data flow issues.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and testing activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering, architecture, cybersecurity, cloud, and product teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Research emerging technologies and contribute recommendations for improving connectivity platforms and engineering practices.

  • Supports continuous improvement of engineering processes and product quality.
Software Product Testing
  • Participates in functional, integration, performance, and system testing activities.
  • Develops and executes test cases based on requirements and design specifications.
  • Documents testing results and supports defect resolution activities.
  • Assists in verification and validation of connectivity and software solutions.
  • Supports automated and manual testing efforts.

Connectivity Systems Engineering
  • Understands the fundamentals of cellular, satellite, networking, and IoT technologies.
  • Assists in implementing connectivity solutions across machine, edge, and cloud environments.
  • Participates in troubleshooting communication and networking issues.
  • Learns connectivity architecture principles and engineering best practices.
  • Contributes to system reliability and operational support activities.

Considered a Top Candidate
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in Software Engineering, Connectivity Engineering, Networking, Cloud Engineering, or Industrial IoT.
  • Experience with one or more programming languages: C++, C, C#, Python
  • Experience developing or supporting software applications, APIs, or connectivity services.
  • Familiarity with:
    • LTE, LTE-M, NB-IoT, or 5G technologies
    • Starlink or satellite communication concepts
    • MQTT, REST APIs, Kafka, or event-driven systems
    • Cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
    • Linux-based development environments
  • Exposure to telemetry systems, IoT platforms, edge computing, or connected products.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.


Additional Details:
  • This position requires the candidate to work full-time at our Irving, Texas office.
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $158,480.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
