About This Opportunity

We are seeking an Engineer II. In this role, you will work directly with clients to assess their industrial operations and identify opportunities to maximize energy efficiency and performance. You'll take a consultative approach - gathering data, building optimization models, and writing feasibility reports - while leading overall project management and contributing to peer support and quality control.

What You Will Be Doing

• Lead projects and provide overall management, direction, and accountability on assigned projects
• Calculate energy savings for various system or equipment changes using existing calculation tools, original spreadsheets, and/or generally accepted methodologies
• Engage with clients at their industrial locations to fully understand their equipment and operations, identifying opportunities for energy efficiency and providing recommendations
• Foster and grow client relationships, and identify opportunities for generating additional work from current and new clients, including through mentoring less experienced team members
• Discuss and explain complex technical issues with a diverse audience in a way that facilitates understanding and consensus, and compose energy efficiency project reports based on analyses and observations
• Document performance through data collection from customer sources or installed data-logging equipment, and maintain a solid understanding of utility programs and their compliance requirements

This is a full-time, exempt position located in the Chicagoland Area. We are open to candidates within the region who are available for day trips to customer sites and client meetings. Travel up to 20% annually is expected, with some assignments requiring up to 50%.

Qualifications

Applicants for this role are required to have:

• Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related field of study
• 3 -5 years of engineering experience
• Technical knowledge of refrigeration, compressed air systems, steam systems, custom computer modeling of systems, electrical distribution system design, industrial control, and data-logging of system results

A successful candidate should also demonstrate these preferred characteristics and/or skills:

• Experience with utility custom energy efficiency programs
• Experience working with both commercial and industrial clients
• Experience mentoring team members
• Critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making capabilities demonstrated by educational or professional experience
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to comfortably interact with internal and external customers and stakeholders
• Proactive, resourceful, and highly motivated to achieve project results

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for this full-time, exempt position in the Chicagoland Area, IL is $81,270 - $122,010. At Cascade, transparency and fairness are core to how we work.
