Job Description

Job Title: Automation Engineer

As an Automation Engineer at Skyjack, you will be responsible for designing, programming, and maintaining automation systems that enhance our manufacturing operations. You will work with state-of-the-art technologies, including PLCs, HMIs, robots, and industrial network protocols. Your expertise in mechanical and electrical design, combined with your programming skills, will play a critical role in optimizing our production processes and ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Performance Expectations
  • Design, program, and troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs including but not limited to Allen Bradley, Omron, Siemens.
  • Develop and integrate robotic systems into manufacturing processes.
  • Configure and maintain industrial network protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus, etc.) and architecture.
  • Implement data collection and SCADA systems for real-time monitoring and reporting.
  • Create mechanical designs using SolidWorks for automation equipment and systems.
  • Develop electrical schematics and control panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of automation systems.
  • Provide technical support and training to production teams.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in automation technology and industry trends.


Credentials
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation and control systems.
  • Proficiency in programming PLCs and HMIs specifically to Allen Bradley, Omron and Siemens.
  • Experience with robot programming and integration.
  • Experience with specified robotic systems (e.g., ABB, Fanuc, KUKA).
  • Experience with robotic welding processes and systems. (e.g., Robotic Mig welding)
  • Experience with robot simulation software (e.g., Robotstudio, Roboguide)
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA, ISO 13849, CSA-Z434).
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Project management experience.


Desired Characteristics
  • Strong knowledge of industrial network protocols and architecture.
  • Expertise in data collection software (e.g., Ignition, FactoryTalk, Wonderware).
  • Proficient in mechanical design using SolidWorks.
  • Skilled in electrical design using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able and willing to travel and work internationally
