Office Location: 601 57th Street, Southeast, Charleston, WV 25304
This position is classified exempt; therefore, does not fall under the classified service. Alternative work location may be considered.
Employee will be assigned to the Division of Air Quality, Permitting Section. Under supervision of a licensed professional engineer, performs work at the full performance level, on a variety of engineering services necessary to the Permitting Section.
Duties include:
  • Reviewing and processing air pollution control permit applications to ensure that facilities are designed and operated in accordance with applicable state and federal air pollution control laws and regulations, as well as consistency with sound engineering practices.
  • Preparing draft permits which are reviewed prior to issuance for accuracy and completeness.
  • Developing and maintaining knowledge of existing and new state and federal regulations and air pollution technologies through training and independent study.
  • Conducting routine complaint response inspections and investigations.
  • Composing reports detailing recommendations, conclusions and findings.
  • Initiating procedures for pursuing administrative enforcement actions, as appropriate.
  • Preparing a variety of reports and correspondence and updates computer data files on a regular basis.
  • Conducting field inspections which may require walking over rugged terrain and inclement weather.
  • May perform other duties as required.

  • Regular attendance is an essential part of this position.

Minimum Qualifications
