Full Job Description
Job Description

The Process Quality Engineer (PQE) will lead and execute quality assurance activities to drive continuous improvement opportunities and investigate, resolve and improve engineering process failures, encompassing manufacturing processes, Quality Management Systems, industry standards and special process certifications by being a champion of continuous improvement initiatives to drive organizational progress. Additionally, the PQE will support the development and execution of comprehensive training programs for new hires and junior Quality Engineers (QEs).

The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution - from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.

What You'll Do:
  • Continuous Improvement & Metrics: Drive and collaborate with manufacturing teams on Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities within specialized work centers. Leverage work center metrics and trend analysis to identify improvements which increase service levels, efficiency and quality while reducing costs.
  • Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA): Consult on and drive RCCA for major process failures across all Tactical Solutions (TS) programs. Lead the RCCA process for Hardware Anomaly Reports (HARs) originating from specialized work centers, ensuring RCs are well understood and CAs are effective.
  • Enterprise Governance: Serve as the primary QE representative for all TS Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) related to process failures.
  • Mentorship & Training: Develop, deliver, and manage comprehensive internal training programs for new hires and junior Quality Engineers (QEs). Supervise work assignments to ensure timely support for programs, manufacturing lines, and work centers, providing expert guidance and prompt assistance during technical failures.
  • Process Oversight: Manage oversight on "general QE" process approvals for all Materials & Processes (M&P) documentation within Agile and Fusion
  • Technical Validation: Maintain professional certifications and perform referee inspections for Quality Control (QC) as necessary to validate process compliance.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Skills and Education

Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Expert knowledge of QE principles, specifically RCCA, DMAIC, Lean methods, and Continuous Improvement (CI).
  • Familiarity with Value Stream Mapping, process flow diagrams, and PFMEAs.
  • Experience in rate-manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated track record of using data to drive continuous improvement.
  • A self-starter who identifies operational opportunities and builds cross-functional relationships.
