Job DescriptionBAE Systems is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer at our Aberdeen, SD facility. Our Manufacturing Engineers work with our Shop Technicians to develop and maintain the processes that safely produce our products correctly, on-time and within budget. This position works a 4 / 10 schedule with typical hours 6 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
As an Engineer at our Aberdeen facility you will be responsible for the following:
- Proactively maintain a safe work environment
- Actively participate in all audits as required
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, schedule and cost
- Take part in quality investigations, including Root Cause Corrective Actions
- Work with team members to determine and implement Corrective Action Responses
- Create and maintain shop routings
- Establish and maintain adequate Process Verification Forms for designated work area
- Create, maintain, and improve work instructions as necessary
- Review, approve and implement engineering changes to ensure proper configuration control
- Ensure ongoing collaboration of best practices and strategies
- Lead initiatives to ensure that continuous improvement is an ongoing process
- Identify and communicate training needs and skills gaps in the teams
- Carry out training when necessary
- Provide and/or identify mentoring and coaching opportunities
- Model appropriate behaviors that encourage effective team work
Required Skills and EducationTypically requires a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or technical discipline and four (4) years of related experience, or the overall equivalent

• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Effective communication skills, written and verbal
• Solid problem solving and analytical abilities
Preferred Skills and Education- Experience working in a collaborative, team based environment
- Defense or aerospace manufacturing environment experience
- Experience with manufacturing database software such as Oracle and TIPQA
- Knowledge of Lean principles
- Hands-on floor support experience, working with shop employees
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
