Job DescriptionIn Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Systems, you'll help develop systems that sense, control, exploit and disseminate actionable information to warfighters supporting a variety of missions.
Our team is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support our team in Greenlawn, New York.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support Product Design and Development: Contribute to the design, development and selection of hardware components utilizing mechanical engineering principles, theories and techniques. Assigned duties may include design and development of specific packaging modules, mechanisms, components or subsystems to meet design requirements. Provide technical direction to design support personnel. Receive limited direction and instruction from senior engineering staff.
- Perform Mechanical Analyses: Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of company standard analysis tools. Assure adequate analysis to achieve performance objectives. Perform static, dynamic and heat transfer analyses of mechanical structures. Analyze data and document results.
- Coordinate Validation of Design. Coordinate the fabrication and environmental testing of design hardware. Design and procure prototype hardware. Coordinate the environmental testing of hardware including: vibration, shock, thermal, fatigue and others as required. Review and document results. Assist in product transition to Operations as required.
- Prepare Documentation: Generate, review and approve the technical content of drawings, engineering specifications, reports and other documentation associated with the mechanical design. Prepare design review packages and present for internal review.
- Support Continuous Improvement: Ensure compliance with IEWS' Quality System and the Mechanical Design Process. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in mechanical engineering disciplines. Recommend improvements that produce cost effective and producible designs.
Required Skills and Education- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 8-12 years of working in an engineering environment
- Experience with 3D Modeling using CREO or similar CAD software
- Experience with Thermal and Structural Finite Element Analysis
- Experience with Environmental Qualification testing
- Experience with Reliability based design and/or Design assurance testing
Preferred Skills and Education- Model Based Definition (MBD) within CREO
- Exposure to Radar, RF, Microwave, and/or Electronic Warfare Systems
- Strong interpersonal skills including team collaboration, presentation, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
