Job Duties

Virginia Energy's State Energy Office is seeking a Energy Modeling and Research Analyst to support Virginia's long-term energy planning efforts by conducting transmission planning, grid modernization, and power system analyses to evaluate reliability, congestion, resource adequacy, and infrastructure investment needs. Through research, modeling, and technical analysis, the position provides actionable insights that support the Virginia Energy Plan, stakeholder engagement, and policy recommendation while strengthening the Commonwealth's ability to maintain a reliable, affordable, and resilient energy system.

Minimum Qualifications
• Proficiency in energy modeling software, transmission planning, data analysis tools, and familiarity with energy market dynamics
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a track record of using data driven approaches to inform decisions
• Understanding of state and federal energy policies, regulations, and initiatives, particularly in Virginia
• Experience in energy modeling, forecasting, or technology evaluation, with a focus on advanced energy systems
• A valid driver's license with a good driving record
