About the Role:
The Endpoint Systems Administrator supports the administration, security, configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle of City-issued endpoints and related hardware, including tablets, mobile phones, laptops, desktops and peripherals. The position is the primary technical resource for endpoint management, ensuring City-issued devices and applications remain secure, compliant, reliable, and operationally effective. Working collaboratively with the Infrastructure and Applications teams, support the deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management of corporate business applications delivered through City-managed endpoints.
What You'll Be Doing:- Support the administration, configuration, security, and ongoing maintenance of City-issued endpoints, including tablets, smartphones, laptops, desktops, peripherals, and specialized operational devices.
- Administer Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Configuration Manager, to enforce device profiles, configuration baselines, application deployment, operating system updates, patch compliance, encryption, access controls, endpoint compliance policies, and security standards.
- Establish and maintain consistent device build standards, operating system lifecycle practices, and endpoint configuration baselines to ensure City hardware is secure, reliable, supportable, auditable, and properly configured prior to deployment.
- Work collaboratively with Infrastructure and Applications teams to support the deployment, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and ongoing operation of enterprise, mobile, field-based, and cloud-based business applications delivered through City-managed endpoints.
- Ensure endpoint technologies, security controls, access requirements, and device configurations support corporate application initiatives and provide a reliable and secure user experience for staff across the Corporation.
- Maintain endpoint management standards and security controls for approximately 500+ corporate cell phones, 700+ workstations/laptops, 250+ tablets, peripherals, and other City-issued endpoint devices.
- Manage the full lifecycle of City-issued endpoint hardware, including intake, imaging/provisioning, deployment, replacement planning, repair coordination, warranty support, asset tracking, inventory reconciliation, surplus, and secure disposal.
- Investigate and solve endpoint-related incidents and service requests, provide technical guidance to staff and departments, and ensure mobile, field-based, and operational hardware continues to meet business and service delivery requirements.
- Assist the Infrastructure team with the maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation of assigned network, server, and virtual infrastructure components, including switches, wireless access points, connectivity services, VLAN/IP addressing, cabling coordination, monitoring alerts, virtual machine instances, server health, patching, resource review, backup validation, recovery testing, performance investigation, and maintenance windows.
- Support the investigation of network, server, VM, and connectivity-related incidents; assist with approved infrastructure changes; maintain accurate technical documentation and procedures; and help ensure assigned infrastructure services remain reliable, secure, and aligned with City standards, security requirements, and operational priorities.
- Provide backfill support for Technical Analysts as required, including operational troubleshooting, endpoint and connectivity support, maintenance activities, and other assigned infrastructure support tasks.
- Apply endpoint and infrastructure security practices related to device compliance, application access, multi-factor authentication, single sign-on, encryption, antivirus/EDR health, patch compliance, vulnerability remediation, and incident response support.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, configuration standards, scripts, automation tools, and repeatable processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve service reliability, strengthen security, reduce manual effort, automate routine endpoint and infrastructure administration tasks, and support consistent deployment and maintenance practices.
- Provide day-to-day direction, training, task assignment, and technical oversight to temporary staff, students, or other assigned resources during project deployments, hardware refresh initiatives, and periods of peak operational workload
- Perform other similar and related duties, as required.
What's Required:- Three (3) year College Diploma in Computer Systems Technology, Information Technology, Network Administration, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
- Three (3) years' experience administering Microsoft endpoint management platforms, including Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Configuration Manager, Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD, Active Directory, Group Policy, conditional access, MFA, SSO, endpoint compliance, and device configuration policies.
- Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate, or equivalent Microsoft endpoint and identity administration experience (Intune, Configuration Manager, Entra ID / Azure AD, Active Directory, Group Policy, conditional access), required.
- CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent networking and cybersecurity certification or experience required.
- ITIL Foundation, or equivalent service management and change management training, considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex endpoint and infrastructure issues, manage competing priorities, and exercise sound technical judgment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical information and work effectively with staff, vendors, and technical teams.
- Availability to respond to occasional after-hours call-ins for endpoint, mobile device, or infrastructure support issues.
- Ability to travel between City facilities as required.
- Ability to lift, carry, and install computer and network equipment (e.g., desktops, monitors, tablets, phones, printers, and related hardware) as required.
