Description:

The Department of Industrial Engineering (IE) at the University of Houston invites applications for the Durga and Sushila Agrawal Industrial Engineering Endowed Professorships at the rank of Full Professor and the Anuradha and Rani Agrawal Industrial Engineering Endowed Professorship at the rank of Full Professor to begin Fall 2026. We are looking for strong candidates with a solid methodological background in broad areas in industrial engineering; Operations Research, Manufacturing, Human Factors and Machine Learning with innovative applications in Healthcare, Energy, or Complex Systems

Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. degree in industrial engineering or a closely related field. Candidates for the endowed professors must have demonstrated distinguished records in all aspects of research, teaching, and leadership with a sustained vibrant research program funded by competitive funding agencies. They are expected to develop and foster nationally recognized, cross-disciplinary research programs. Successful applicants must demonstrate a record of developing and maintaining a vigorous research program, sustaining a strong record of peer-reviewed publication, external funding, advising students, and teaching innovation.

University: The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has recognized the University of Houston as a research university with very high research activities. UH enjoys strong ties as a full member of the Texas Medical Center.

Department: The IE Department has 15 full-time faculty and approximately 350 students in programs leading to bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. The department has recently embarked on an exciting period of research growth as well as student enrollment growth. Opportunities exist for collaboration with several departments in the College, University, and local community in the areas of healthcare, resilience, smart city & sustainability, manufacturing, and energy.
