Job Summary:
The Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin is recruiting for an exceptional endocrine surgeon to join our dynamic Division of Endocrine Surgery. We are looking for candidates with a demonstrated track record of clinical excellence and academic contributions. The department provides a robust infrastructure of services to support faculty in their clinical and academic success.

The selected finalist will have experience with Laparoscopic and/or Robotic Adrenalectomy. It is preferable that candidates have an interest in establishing an academic program related to Endocrine Surgery (clinical, basic science, or health services research) or Surgical Education. The selected finalist will have evidence of prior training and/or clinical experience with Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of Thyroid Nodules. Candidates with an expressed interest in learning about the procedure will also be considered. Certification in Da Vinci Robotic Surgery is also preferred.

• Applicants for this position will be considered for the following titles Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Professor, Assistant Professor (CHS), Associate Professor (CHS), Professor (CHS), Visiting Associate Professor, or Visiting Professor. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.
• This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.
• This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Academic Program
  • A successfully recruited surgeon on the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) Track will also participate in or develop areas of academic and scholarly pursuit.

• Service and Teaching
  • Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health.An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

• Clinical
  • Elective endocrine surgery practice including clinic based primarily at UW Health at the East Madison Hospital
  • Operative practice will be based primarily at East Madison Hospital with other locations possible depending on clinical demands.
  • Call responsibilities include coverage of endocrine surgery patients as well as occasional general surgery coverage.

The Division of Endocrinology has 8 fellowship-trained faculty members that are dedicated to advancing the field of endocrine surgery through a diverse portfolio of research projects, training the next generation of surgeons and providing nationally recognized care to patients. Service and leadership are also paramount within the division. The Division is led by Rebecca Sippel, MD, FACS, Chair, Division of Endocrine Surgery, and Vice Chair of Academic Affairs and Professional Development.

The Wisconsin Department of Surgeryis one of the leading surgical departments in the nation, excelling in patient care, surgical education, and surgical research. We are composed of more than 130 full-time faculty across 10 divisions and nearly 200 additional staff who support our mission. Our surgeons perform approximately 20,000 operations per year for pediatric and adult patients. Training the next generation of surgeons and clinician-scientists is integral in our department, with more than 100 residents and fellows trained each year.

Compensation:

• Negotiable, 12-month

Required Qualifications:

• Wisconsin Medical license by start date of position.
• Board certification or Board Eligible in Surgery through the American Board of Surgery or American Osteopathic Board of Surgery or equivalent by appointment start date.
• Completion of an Endocrine Surgery fellowship by appointment start date

Preferred Qualifications:

• For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track.

Education:

• MD or DO, or equivalent required
