Job Title: Employee Experience Manager
Department: Human Resources
Classification: Exempt
Grade: 13
FTE/Working Schedule: 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week)

Position Overview:

The Employee Experience Manager drives workplace excellence by leading two central priorities for the College: Staff Professional Development and Performance Management. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this position provides expert consultation to managers, supervisors, and campus leaders on professional development, employee growth, performance appraisal, and compliance. Applying an equity, inclusion, and community lens across all programs, the Manager helps cultivate a welcoming culture, enhance employee capabilities and experience, and optimize performance management.

Compensation:

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $88,000 and $90,900. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

Staff Orientation, Training & Development

  • Design, execute, and oversee College-wide learning, professional development, and training programs.

  • Establish and manage structured onboarding and ramp-up plans (30/60/90-day integration) to ensure seamless new-hire engagement and connectivity.

  • Deliver training and educational workshops to supervisors on management best practices, inclusive leadership, and team development.

  • Partner with leadership to design career pathways, professional growth initiatives, and internal mobility opportunities (future goal)

Performance Management

  • Coordinate and refine the College's performance appraisal, review, and ongoing feedback mechanisms.

  • Establish benchmarks and track performance metrics to maintain high standards and operational accountability (future goal)


Employee Engagement

  • Analyze employee engagement data, experience surveys, stay interviews, and exit interviews to identify trends, eliminate pain points, and execute improvement plans.

  • Design and execute employee recognition strategies that highlight staff contributions and support retention.

  • Review, and advise on HR policies to ensure legal compliance and consistent campus-wide communication.

  • Provide prompt, solutions-oriented customer service to employees regarding HR policies and workplace inquiries.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Help maintain the Human Resource’s webpage and related materials.

  • Maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with Carleton employees, vendors, and external partners.

  • Assist with broader HR initiatives as assigned.

Supervision Received and Exercised:

This position reports directly to the Director of Human Resources, supervises one direct report, and collaborates closely with Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (IDE) department staff.

Education/Experience/Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 5+ years of progressive, full-time professional HR experience with demonstrated experience in training design and performance management systems.

  • Proven expertise in organizational management, and employment law/compliance.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting and promoting a diverse workforce.

  • Strong analytical, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in Workday (HRIS), Web applications, and database management.

  • Prior HR leadership experience within higher education.

Must have the ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions, operations, safety procedures, and hazardous labels.
