Overview

UnityPoint Health is actively recruiting for an Emergency Medicine Advanced Practice Provider to join our team in Sioux City, Iowa

UnityPoint Health - Sioux City provides coordinated clinic, hospital and home-based care for patients in Sioux City and the surrounding Siouxland area. St. Luke's offers a full range of services and programs that includes a state-of-the-art surgical center, Siouxland's premier birth center, 24/7 cardiovascular care, and Level III emergency department. In addition, UnityPoint Health - Sioux City is also home to St. Luke's College which provides high-quality, health system-based education to individuals looking for careers in health care.

Responsibilities

  • Hybrid position working a mix of shifts in the Emergency Department and Clinical Decision Unit (CDU)
    • ED: 9-hour shifts Monday -Friday (8a-5p, 11a-9p, 10p-7a)
    • ED: 12-hour shifts Saturday - Sunday (7a-7p, 7p-7a)
    • Clinic Decision Unit: 6-hour shifts Monday - Friday (8a-2p)
  • 0.9 FTE = 72 hours per pay period (every 2 weeks)
  • Annual ED visit volume = 33,000
  • Average ED patients per day = 89
  • Average 1.2-1.6 patients per hour in ED
  • 40 hours of physician coverage & 27 hours of APP coverage per day in ED
  • Level 3 Trauma Center
  • 22 bed ED + 12 bed clinical decision unit + 10 bed fast track + 2 trauma bays
  • APP's manage CDU with physician oversight
  • Integral part of the Emergency Medicine team
  • Ability to see broad range of patient complaints and practice to top of your license
  • No call, good work/life balance
  • Ability to work as a team member to improve the health of the people and communities we serve
  • Evaluates, interprets and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care
  • Patient-focused, friendly and willing to collaborate in a team environment

Qualifications

  • Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Board Certified
  • Minimum of 1 year of postgraduate experience, preferrably in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care
  • Hold an unrestricted medical license in the state of Iowa
  • Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the Advanced Practitioners field of practice
  • Eligible to work in the United States
