Description
Emergency Management & Security Coordinator

We are currently recruiting to fill a full-time Emergency Management and Security Coordinator position at Intercity Transit (IT). This position coordinates, develops, implements, and continuously improves the agency's emergency management, business continuity, and security programs. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, exercising, and continuously improving emergency preparedness, response, recovery, continuity, and security initiatives that protect employees, passengers, facilities, and critical transit operations.

Examples of Duties
As an Emergency Management and Security Coordinator you will have a role in emergency management, business continuity, security, training, emergency response, and risk management A few examples of duties in those areas are:

Program Development & Preparedness
  • Develop, implement, coordinate, and continuously improve agency emergency management, business continuity, and security programs, plans, procedures, and capabilities.
  • Identify program gaps and risks and develop practical strategies, corrective actions, and improvements in collaboration with agency departments and external partners.

Exercises & Training
  • Plan, develop, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate tabletop, functional, and full-scale emergency exercises.
  • Develop and deliver employee preparedness and security awareness training covering emergency procedures, evacuations, active threat response, workplace violence prevention, personal preparedness, and security awareness.

Emergency Response
  • Coordinate agency emergency response activities during incidents and planned events.
  • Coordinate emergency notifications and assist with employee accountability during emergency incidents.
  • Participate in post-incident reviews and coordinate development and implementation of corrective actions.

Security Program Administration
  • Coordinate agency security programs including access control systems, employee identification badges, credentialing, key control, visitor management, security technologies, and facility security assessments.
  • Conduct or coordinate threat, vulnerability, and CPTED assessments and maintain effective relationships with law enforcement, fire/EMS, emergency management agencies, and other external partners.

Typical Qualifications
Are you the one we're looking for?
  • Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Public Safety, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a closely related field and at least three years of progressively responsible experience in emergency management, homeland security, security management, public safety, emergency services, or a related operational environment.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and progressively responsible experience may be considered.
  • One year or more of experience with emergency management and security in the transit field.
  • Experience coordinating emergency planning, preparedness, response, recovery, or continuity programs.
  • Experience planning or participating in emergency exercises and incident response activities.
  • Experience working collaboratively across multiple departments and external agencies.
