We are actively seeking an
Emergency Management & Security Advisor to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. Reporting to the Team Lead, Health & Safety, this role provides expert guidance and support in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from a variety of emergency and security-related events. The successful candidate will steward Strathcona's Emergency and Security Management Programs, including the development and implementation of plans, conducting risk assessments, coordinating response activities, and delivering training to enhance organizational preparedness, resilience, safety, and security.
Essential Functions- Develop and update both the corporate governance and field-specific documents related to emergency management, security, and business continuity to ensure it meets regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and internal continuous improvement cycles.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and business continuity plans, including identifying potential hazards, assessing risks, and supporting field operations in establishing protocols for various emergency scenarios.
- Conduct thorough threat and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and potential threats to personnel, facilities, and operations. Developing strategies to mitigate identified risks and enhance security measures.
- Support emergency response efforts during actual incidents, working with internal and external stakeholders, including first responders, government agencies, and other relevant organizations.
- Conduct field visits to facilitate and support area security management meetings, provide training and education to employees and stakeholders on the emergency and security management programs.
- Liaise with CPS and local RCMP detachments and peer company security stakeholders. Provide regular follow-up and update reporting on active cases and investigations.
- Support implementation of security measures, including access control, surveillance systems, and security personnel, to protect personnel and assets.
- Assist in the management of security projects as required.
Qualifications- Diploma in Emergency Management, Security, or a related field with a minimum of 8 years of industry experience, or a degree in a related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of experience; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Strong knowledge of emergency management and security programs, procedures, processes, and applicable legislation and standards, including CSA Z246.1 and Z246.2.
- Experience conducting threat, vulnerability, and risk assessments, with strong analytical, problem-solving, and computer skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to proactively anticipate challenges, prioritize urgent issues, and manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with a satisfactory driving record.
- Professional designations such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Professional in Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), and/or Physical Security Professional (PSP) are considered assets.
Work Environment- Based in our head office in Calgary, with travel to field locations as required.
- Occasional after-hours support for emergency and incident response activities may be required.
