Description:
Shakopee Public Schools is searching for a fantastic Special Education (SpEd) Teacher - 1.0 FTE - to join the amazing staff in Shakopee Schools for the 26-27 school year. This position will be split across two elementary schools (Red Oak Elementary/Sun Path Elementary).

Job Summary:
Deliver direct and indirect Special Education services to students, monitor progress on IEP goals and objectives, follow due process and IEP procedures and manage the paperwork, communicate effectively with families and staff, develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans, direct the work of Paraeducator(s).

Provide instruction in content area in accordance with each student's ability, create a classroom environment that fosters student learning and personal growth, establish effective working relationships with students and parents, work collaboratively with other staff members.

Education/Training/Experience:
  • Valid MN teaching licensure in Special Education EBD, SLD, ASD or ABS or willingness and ability to obtain a valid MN teaching license or OFP in Special Education EBD, SLD, ASD or ABS
  • NVCI (CPI) training preferred
  • Experience working with a variety of disabilities and the ability to deliver specialized instruction to meet the individual needs of these students. Training for specific needs of the students in the program will be provided by the district
  • Experience with multiple instructional designs and differentiated instruction
  • Experience with student behavior management in the classroom and implementation of behavior intervention plans preferred

Salary can range anywhere between $52,020 to $126,971 depending upon education level and experience.
