Job Description:

This role will lead Electronic Component Design projects for customer and dealer-facing Connectivity Solutions (Cellular, Sat, Wi-Fi, BT, UWB, etc.) in Cat Technology. Responsibilities include generating hardware requirements from customer (VOC), dealer (VOD), business (VOB), and regulatory (VOR) input, leading the design and development of Connectivity Hardware Products, and leading supplier engagement. The role also ensures consistency between system and hardware requirements, working closely with enterprise technical leaders. 

In this position, you will help define hardware requirements for Connectivity Hardware, collaborate with potential suppliers, define technology roadmaps, drive engineering execution, and coordinate stakeholder communication. You will work closely with Cat Technology teams on enterprise architecture, implementing new technologies, and evaluating emerging technology solutions. 


What You Will Do:

  • Facilitating the development and support of Connectivity products through collaboration with development partners including Cat Technology, Cat Digital, Industry Groups, and purchasing. 
  • Communicating the status of a program/project to stakeholders and customers in clear, concise, and compelling manner. 
  • Directing project staffing; motivating and developing project team and team members. 
  • Overseeing compliance with development processes and regulations for electrical and electronic systems and components. 
  • Managing and negotiating with electrical and electronic equipment vendors for the development of systems and components. 
  • Accountability for the definition and management of hardware requirements.

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. 
  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers
  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives. 
  • Supplier Management: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.

  • Experience with electronic component products, component integration and product quality management.  
  • Experience with Component Product Development for automotive, construction or mining Industry.  
  • Experience with Supplier management.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, audits and controls, defect containment and risk assessment and mitigation through leading indicators.  
  • Knowledge and experience with connectivity/telematics product line.
  • Knowledge and awareness of IoT Standards, regulations, and regional requirements.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to perform complex assignments. 
  • Must have ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well as employees in other business units, customers, and suppliers. 
  • Electronic component, information systems, and machine systems development experience and knowledge 

Additional Information:

  • This position requires the candidate to work full-time in either Mossville, IL or Irving, TX
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

Summary Pay Range:

$147,760.00 - $221,640.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
