Position Overview
In this role, you will be the technical bridge between our high-power laser testing, cleanroom electro-optics manufacturing, and 3D printer process teams. You will work extensively with our high-power laser test platform, drive Light Valve (LV) development and support in the cleanroom, and troubleshoot complex system-level issues on our 3D printers.
Key Responsibilities
High-Power Laser Testing & Characterization (HP Mantis)
• Execute standard tests on the HP Mantis laser platform and generate detailed device performance reports.
• Characterize device performance to establish, rank, and maintain a clear inventory of backup devices for daily printing operations.
• Troubleshoot system issues as they arise, collaborating cross-functionally with the internal OE team and external vendors (e.g., Laserline) to implement solutions.
• Support the system setup, validation, and testing for the upcoming HP Mantis PL upgrade.
Light Valve (LV) Cleanroom Support & Development
• Create and maintain accurate CAD drawings and assembly models for LV configurations, substrates, and engineering requirements.
• Author and maintain procedural documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and internal documentation highlighting build process deviations.
• Act as the primary escalation point for cleanroom technicians, resolving issues related to daily tasks, LV builds, and quality inspections.
• Review post-build inspection images and log results into our Airtable database.
• Perform advanced consumable preparation beyond the scope of standard technicians, including precise mixing of alignment layers and epoxy materials.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and fix LV processing equipment, including specialized tools, computers, and supplies.
• Support future development efforts for future cleanroom scoping
3D Printer Systems Support
• Partner with the process engineering team to troubleshoot system-level 3D printer issues, actively isolating LV-specific failures from general system errors.
• Execute the mechanical removal, replacement, and housing integration of LVs, ensuring backup devices are correctly set up.
• Install new electro-optic devices into the printer systems and assist with system tuning, alignment, and calibration.
Ideal Qualifications
• Experience in an electro-optical, semiconductor, or laser systems manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience working in a cleanroom environment, specifically with sensitive optics, liquid crystal devices, or semiconductor wafers.
• Advanced Proficiency in CAD software for creating assembly models and configuration drawings.
• Experience executing DOEs and managing data tracking systems
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose complex hardware and equipment issues.
