Job Description Summary

Job Description

Job responsibilities require both independent, self-directed efforts, as well as team efforts working together with engineers and other technicians. You will work closely with our engineering and technical team to assemble, integrate, and test ground and flight systems for advanced aerospace applications. You will be responsible for the electronic and mechanical assembly, integration, checkout, and maintenance of prototype hardware and flight-ready systems. Applications for our development include advanced aircraft and propulsion systems, avionics and control systems, ground support equipment, as well as flight test instrumentation systems.

You will be expected to have strong attention to detail and the ability to work with both electronic components and mechanical assemblies. You will handle sensitive electronic equipment, precision mechanical parts, flight-critical hardware, and ground support systems. Some travel to external facilities (GE or customer sites) may be needed to support integration activities, system checkouts, or flight test campaigns.

The job will require moderate lifting of hardware up to 50 pounds, working in confined spaces, climbing ladders, and potentially working at elevated heights during system installation. In support of integration and testing activities, duties will include hardware preparation, system checkout procedures, working through detailed assembly and test checklists, and participating in integrated system tests. General housekeeping duties will also be expected, including the arrangement of tools and equipment, organization of parts and storage areas, electrostatic discharge (ESD) control, and overall work area cleanliness. Additionally, specialized cleaning and handling procedures shall be followed as required for flight hardware and clean-room environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform electronic assembly including soldering, wire harnessing, circuit board installation, and connector assembly for ground and flight systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and engineering specifications.
  • Assemble and integrate mechanical components with electrical and electronic subsystems.
  • Install, terminate, and test wiring and cable assemblies per IPC-A-620 and aerospace workmanship standards.
  • Perform functional checkout and troubleshooting using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and test equipment.
  • Conduct continuity checks, resistance measurements, and voltage/current testing to verify system functionality.
  • Collaborate with engineers to resolve assembly issues and support root cause analysis.
  • Document assembly procedures, test results, and as-built configurations per quality requirements.
  • Perform rework and modifications per engineering change orders.
  • Utilize hand tools, precision measuring instruments, crimping tools, torque wrenches, and power tools.
  • Support integration of ground test systems and flight hardware, including instrumentation and sensor installation.
  • Maintain organized work areas
  • Perform periodic maintenance and calibration checks on test equipment and tools.
  • Support flight system testing including pre-flight checkouts, ground operations, and post-flight inspections.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED. Associate's degree or technical certification in electronics or avionics preferred.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in electronic assembly, wire harnessing, and electro-mechanical integration. Aerospace or defense experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and assembly procedures.
  • Proficiency in soldering, wire termination, connector assembly, and cable fabrication meeting IPC standards.
  • Experience with electronic test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. secret clearance. U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain ATF clearance.

Additional / Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with avionics systems, flight instrumentation, or aircraft electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD specifications and aerospace quality standards (AS9100).
  • Proficiency with CAD software for viewing mechanical drawings and electrical schematics (e.g., Altium, NX).
  • Experience with LabVIEW, MATLAB, or other data acquisition and analysis software.
  • Experience with crimping and connector assembly for aerospace applications (Deutsch, Amphenol, circular connectors).
  • Familiarity with composite materials handling and bonding techniques.
  • Experience working in cleanroom or controlled environments.
  • Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems integration.
  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
  • Previous experience supporting flight test operations or ground test campaigns.
