SUMMARY

Ajax Building Company, part of STO Building Group, is seeking a hands-on Electrical Superintendent to lead and oversee electrical field operations on complex commercial construction projects. This individual will manage electrical subcontractors and ensure effective coordination between electrical systems and other trades.

This role is responsible for driving day-to-day electrical activities while maintaining strict adherence to safety, schedule, and quality standards. The Electrical Superintendent reports to and is directly accountable to the General Superintendent.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Hire, train, evaluate, and manage craft personnel and electrical subcontractors in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Lead and coordinate electrical field operations to ensure work is executed according to design, budget, and schedule.
  • Plan and oversee daily activities, including manpower, materials, equipment, deliveries, and trade sequencing.
  • Interpret electrical drawings and specifications and provide technical guidance regarding installation methods and equipment.
  • Coordinate electrical work with mechanical, plumbing, structural, architectural, controls, and other building systems.
  • Oversee the installation, energization, testing, commissioning, and turnover of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Interface with clients, inspectors, utility providers, and trade partners to support effective field coordination.
  • Enforce safety policies and electrical safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, temporary power, and energization requirements.
  • Monitor subcontractor productivity, resource utilization, installation quality, and schedule performance.
  • Support project management with field documentation, RFIs, change requests, and project procedures.
  • Perform or oversee electrical coordination, layout, inspections, punch-list activities, and field engineering.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of relevant electrical construction supervisory experience required; 8+ years preferred.
  • Mission critical (data center) construction experience preferred; candidates with complex healthcare, life sciences, or similarly technical project experience will also be considered.
  • Experience working in a supervisory role for a commercial general contractor or electrical subcontractor preferred.
  • Proven experience serving as an Electrical Superintendent from project inception through completion required.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems, coordination, installation, energization, testing, and commissioning.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, submittals, and applicable codes.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction and electrical safety requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to motivate teams and effectively handle challenges in a fast-paced jobsite environment.

Physical Requirements
  • Must have the ability to perform the following tasks:
    • Coordinate the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers with full use of hands, arms and fingers.
    • See well (either naturally or with correction).
    • Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding.
    • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or work at any height.
    • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.
