Position Title:Electrical Maintenance Manager

About the Role:

The Electrical Maintenance Manager, requiring a combination of technical expertise and strong leadership and project management skills, oversees electrical, electronic, and instrumentation projects and systems, including their design, installation, maintenance, and repair. Key responsibilities include managing members of the electrical team, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations, overseeing budgets, and coordinating with other departments to meet project goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and administer safety in all areas of the position's responsibility. Exhibit knowledge of and ensure compliance with all safety regulations. Independently identify and correct safety hazards. Counsel and discipline employees for non-compliance with safety rules. Conduct or ensure that regular safety training, safety topic meetings and task training are being completed as directed by Safety Director. Perform area inspections and accident investigations as required. Cooperate with all external inspectors as necessary.
  • Manage the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical, electronic, and instrumentation systems and equipment, guide and mentor team to troubleshoot problems as they arise to ensure maximum equipment efficiency and minimum downtime of plant operations. Adhere to electrical standards, safety regulations, and codes. Perform periodic inspections to ensure work meets specifications and quality standards.
  • Manage the development and implementation of preventative maintenance schedules, which incorporate daily inspections of critical electrical equipment. Respond to emergency situations when management oversight is needed.
  • Oversee the electrical, electronic, and instrumentation historical data to ensure accuracy for future reference and evaluate opportunities to improve costs and up time of equipment.
  • Research and manage parts and materials for all electrical, electronic, and automation systems projects to ensure in stock for project completion. Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure electrical requirements are met and to communicate project progress.
  • Responsible for managing work assignments and ensuring time tracked on all jobs for cost analysis of projects and future reference.
  • Recommend and research cost savings projects, major jobs, and capital appropriations for area of responsibility. In addition, analyze projects in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager for short- and long-term planning and major outages in area of responsibility.
  • Develop electrical department budget, including labor, for review and approval from the Plant Manager. Manage the budget throughout the year.
  • Assume weekend call responsibility in accordance with the weekend call schedule and fill in during vacation, illness, or any other unforeseen event in the Electrical Department.
  • Develop and update monthly reports on equipment status and work accomplished.
  • Effectively administer and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of collective bargaining agreement. Issue discipline according to Keystone Code of Conduct. Ensure that all employees understand and follow company policies, safety rules, environmental compliance and labor agreements.
  • Support, motivate, and train the workforce to keep a productive team operating. Conduct performance evaluations and propose discipline and other actions when necessary. Manage the technical training for the Electrical Department to ensure quality performance. Identify additional training needs and provide training and development opportunities to employees.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of five years' electrical supervisory or management experience in heavy industry.
  • Knowledge of cement facilities and equipment.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and delegation abilities.
  • Able to successfully interact and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft applications required, experience in SAP, and knowledge in a timecard system preferred.
  • Able to physically inspect plant properties where climbing steps and ladders, observing at heights, and traversing uneven work surfaces is required.
  • Able to wear all required MSHA personal protective equipment.
  • Proper wear and use of respirator, when needed.
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, the highest standards for industrial workplace safety, environmental compliance, dependability, and professional workmanship is essential.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced plant environment.

Work Environment

This role operates within a heavy industrial cement manufacturing environment and will require regular field presence throughout the plant. Candidates should be comfortable working around heat, dust, noise, moving equipment, and outdoor conditions while always adhering to appropriate PPE and safety requirements.
