Full Job Description
Procon Consulting is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to support federal government construction projects across the United States. As part of our consulting team, you will develop detailed cost estimates for new construction, renovations, and modernization projects for federal agencies. This role works closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and government stakeholders to provide accurate, defensible estimates throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional electrical estimating experience supporting commercial, institutional, or federal construction projects.
  • Experience preparing detailed electrical estimates for vertical building construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, telecommunications, and low-voltage systems.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting federal government construction projects (GSA, VA, USACE, NAVFAC, DoD, DHS, or similar agencies).
  • Knowledge of CSI MasterFormat, Uniformat, and federal cost estimating practices.
  • Experience preparing Independent Government Estimates (IGEs).
  • Familiarity with RSMeans, CostWorks, Success Estimator, MII, or similar estimating platforms.
  • Professional certifications such as AACE, ASPE, CPE, CCP, or PMP are a plus.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Prepare detailed conceptual, design, and construction cost estimates for federal building projects.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and scope documents to develop accurate quantity takeoffs.
  • Develop independent government estimates (IGEs) and support budget planning activities.
  • Analyze contractor bids, change orders, and cost proposals for reasonableness.
  • Utilize industry estimating databases such as RSMeans and other estimating software.
  • Prepare cost reports, estimate narratives, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects, and government clients throughout project development.
  • Identify cost risks, escalation factors, and value engineering opportunities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of federal construction standards, procurement practices, and market pricing.
