POSITION PURPOSE:
LBYD Federal is seeking an Electrical Engineer to provide on-site facility and infrastructure engineering support to the 50th Civil Engineer Squadron at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado. The selected candidate will evaluate and support power distribution, lighting, grounding, emergency power, controls, communications pathways, fire-alarm interfaces, and related electrical systems from requirement definition through construction and closeout.

The Electrical Engineer will coordinate with LBYD Federal management, engineers, planners, CAD and GIS personnel, construction staff, facility users, and authorized Government representatives. The position requires sound engineering judgment, field verification, disciplined quality control, and clear technical documentation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review facility records, one-line diagrams, load data, prior studies, drawings, specifications, and maintenance information.
• Conduct field investigations to verify existing electrical conditions, equipment, capacity, reliability, clearances, and system interfaces.
• Develop or review technical requirements, calculations, studies, scopes of work, estimates, schedules, sketches, drawings, and recommendations.
• Evaluate service capacity, connected and demand loads, equipment ratings, voltage drop, grounding, bonding, short-circuit considerations, protective-device coordination, and outage requirements.
• Support medium-voltage and low-voltage distribution, interior and exterior lighting, emergency and standby power, lightning protection, controls, and related systems.
• Coordinate power, equipment, controls, life-safety, telecommunications pathway, and fire-alarm interfaces with other disciplines.
• Apply applicable UFC, UFGS, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, Air Force, and installation criteria.
• Identify long-lead equipment, operational constraints, temporary-power needs, phasing, shutdowns, and utility coordination requirements.
• Review design and construction submittals, RFIs, substitutions, field conflicts, proposed changes, testing information, redlines, and turnover documents.
• Support construction observations, startup, testing, commissioning, punch-list, and closeout activities.
• Prepare clear technical reports, meeting records, comment responses, and decision-ready recommendations.
• Perform self-checks and participate in peer, interdisciplinary, independent technical, and final compliance reviews.
• Maintain accurate and traceable project files and protect controlled and sensitive information.
• Do not authorize contract changes or direct contractor means and methods; route contractual matters through authorized channels.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support programming, cost estimating, energy evaluations, facility-condition assessments, outage planning, and other duties consistent with the position and contract requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of four (4) years of relevant electrical engineering experience supporting facilities, utilities, infrastructure, design, construction, or operations.
• Experience evaluating or designing facility power distribution, lighting, grounding, emergency power, or related electrical systems.
• Ability to interpret and prepare calculations, one-line diagrams, drawings, specifications, scopes, estimates, and technical reports.
• Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, safety practices, and construction processes.
• Strong technical-writing, field-investigation, problem-solving, and multidisciplinary-coordination skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and common electrical design or document-review tools.

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to exercise independent engineering judgment; analyze electrical systems and field conditions; identify safety, capacity, reliability, and constructability issues; coordinate with multiple disciplines; manage concurrent assignments; and communicate technical findings clearly.

Special Requirements:

• Must be able to successfully complete applicable federal background and installation-access requirements.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain required credentials, including a CAC or DBIDS credential, as applicable.
• Must comply with Schriever Space Force Base security, cybersecurity, electrical safety, records-management, and information-protection requirements.
• Employment is contingent upon contract award, Government funding, exercise of the applicable option, and satisfaction of access requirements.
• Occasional local or overnight travel may be required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current Professional Engineer license in a U.S. state or territory.
• Experience supporting U.S. Air Force, U.S. Space Force, Department of Defense, USACE, NAVFAC, or another federal agency.
• Familiarity with UFC, UFGS, NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards, and federal electrical design requirements.
• Experience with SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, Bluebeam, or comparable tools.
• Experience with active-facility outages, mission-critical systems, commissioning, and federal construction administration.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Work requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing stairs or ladders, and moving through electrical rooms, facilities, and construction areas. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment and occasionally lift or carry up to 25 pounds.
• Must be able to use a computer and review electronic and printed technical documents for extended periods.
• Must be able to safely access buildings, exterior sites, uneven terrain, utility areas, and active construction locations.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in office, occupied-facility, exterior, electrical-equipment, utility, and active construction-site environments. Exposure may include weather, dust, noise, moving equipment, energized-system hazards, and uneven surfaces. Required personal protective equipment, approach boundaries, and site-specific safety procedures must be followed.
