Full Job Description
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THIS JOB (Summary)

This position will fill a new role within the TNT Santiago office, providing support the TNT electrical department in Santee, California, on small to large materials handling projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Functional Responsibilities
  • Provide electrical/controls presence in the Santiago, Chile office, and coordinate with the overall electrical/controls team located in Santee, California.
  • Perform electrical/controls lead duties for project proposals based out of South America; including, reviewing RFQ specifications, technical bid evaluations for equipment packages, preparing cost estimates, and technical input into proposal documentation
  • Performing engineering design and related duties; including, developing protection and control schemes, equipment specifications and selection, management of vendor / equipment suppliers, power distribution layouts, grounding / lightning design, lighting, schematic and wiring design
  • Manage electrical subcontractors and vendors
  • Ensure compliance with both client and TNT technical specifications
  • Review TNT purchase orders to vendors (suppliers) and approve quantities and technical specifications
  • Engineering coordination with structural and mechanical engineering departments
  • Identifying scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process
  • Maintaining and planning cost control for all scopes of work
  • Ensuring that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures
  • Other duties as assigned


Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Some supervision of design and drafting personnel on electrical design projects.

  • Provide professional and courteous interaction with all stakeholders
  • Ensure work is completed in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner


Health & Safety
  • Work in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Cementation and TNT
  • Incorporate Health and Safety considerations in all functions and daily activities of the position
  • Monitor work environment for health and safety hazards or infractions and reports the same to Health and Safety Department
  • Keep work area clean and free of clutter
  • Use proper equipment for the job


Travel Requirements
  • This position has the requirement for occasional travel to project sites and offices
  • Travel period may range from one day to several weeks and may include overseas assignments


QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
  • Engineering Degree from a recognized University or Professional Institution, along with a Professional Engineering designation or ability to register as a Professional Engineer
  • Minimum of 7 years' industrial, mining, or process plant experience
  • Previous on-site construction/commissioning experience required


Certificate(s), License(s), Registration(s)
  • CET or Professional Engineer with (P. Eng.) designation preferred
  • PMP designation or accreditation preferred


Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
  • Experience writing technical specifications/datasheets, and performing bid evaluations
  • Experience creating electrical cost estimates is required
  • SmartPlant software experience considered a major asset
  • Fluent in both Spanish and English is required
  • EPLAN design software experience considered a major asset
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software required
  • Experience of AutoCAD and 3D design/drafting techniques
