Job Summary:

Strategic Management Solutions, LLC (SMSI) is seekingElectrical Engineers to work onsite at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in Los Alamos, NM. The Electrical Engineer will perform a full range of design engineering responsibilities in support of facility design, operation, and maintenance activities. This role requires applying broad and diversified knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, and DOE-complex requirements. Due to multiple openings, there are positions which require 3 years of experience but also positions that require a minimum of 6 years of experience.
  • Work schedule is typically 4-10s during regular business hours, working either: Monday-Thursday, Thursday-Sunday, or Friday-Monday.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform conventional engineering design, analysis, and calculations.
  • Develop, review, and support engineering design packages.
  • Provide construction, field, and project engineering support.
  • Work independently and collaboratively as part of a multi-discipline team.
  • Apply engineering technology and tools to deliver high-quality work.
  • Interface with stakeholders across disciplines in a fast-paced environment.


Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant engineering experience required for Engineer 2.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant engineering experience required for Engineer 3.
  • Working knowledge of industry, regulatory, and DOE/NNSA codes, standards, and criteria relevant to electrical engineering.
  • Proven knowledge of commonly applied codes and standards at DOE and DoD facilities (e.g., NQA-1, IBC, NFPA, NEC).
  • Prior experience facilitating and developing engineering design packages.
  • Familiarity with typical engineering deliverables (e.g., construction documents).
  • Experience with computer-aided design/drafting software or markup tools.
  • Design experience in power and familiarity with low power,
  • US citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q clearance is required.
  • Candidate must be able to work onsite in Los Alamos.
  • The candidate must have an active Real ID driver's license for badging and onboarding.


Preferred Skills:

  • Active (or recently inactive) DOE Q clearance preferred but not required.
  • Design experience in DOD, DOE, nuclear, accelerator or industrial facility operations is a plus.
  • Knowledge of DOE, LANL Engineering Standards, and Conduct of Engineering principles and procedures is a plus.
  • Controls experience is a plus.


Educational Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline from an ABET-accredited college or university.
  • EIT or Professional Engineer license is a plus.
