Full Job Description
As an Electrical Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain high-quality electronic solutions. You will be responsible for solving complex problems, design clean and efficient PCB's, and ensuring the delivery of electronic products or peripherals that meet business requirements and user needs. This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Designs printed circuit boards (PCBs) from schematic to outsource packages for vendor evaluation of electronic control systems utilizing microcontrollers in conjunction with Software engineers for the operation, monitoring and troubleshooting of automated entrance doors.
  • Designs motor drive circuits primarily for brush type DC motors
  • Designs data communication capability into hardware designs allowing door controls to communicate via Modbus, Canbus or TCP/IP protocol with external systems
  • Design of peripheral boards or products that may work with a control or be independent.
  • Works with vendors to ensure that controls meet specifications, reduce costs, resolve issues and improve reliability.
  • Coordinates activities with engineering and marketing team members to ensure the project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget; reviews status reports prepared by the project personnel and modifies schedule or plan as required.
  • Establishes and maintains contacts with internal and external customers, to provide information, gain acceptance and support of the project, and ensure that the project meets the customer needs.
  • Hands on Prototyping of design concepts and testing of controls or peripheral board or products to validate design.
  • Assists Technical support troubleshoot field difficulties as required
  • Assists vendors identify alternate electronic parts for cost reduction or during times of availability issues.
  • Advises engineering and marketing teams on potential product improvements.
  • Reports project status to senior management in a concise and clear manner.


Qualifications

Qualifications
  • 5+ years' experience managing large, highly visible projects with multiple vendors in engineering and technology.
  • Design of system level electronic PCB assemblies, preferably including motor controls.
  • Component level troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to provide leadership on electrical design projects.
  • PMI certification is preferred.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Product design background encompassing embedded microcontrollers.
  • Knowledgeable in C / C++ firmware development.

Education
  • BS / MS in Electrical Engineering

Travel
  • Travel on occasions determined by project activity and field product support.
  • This travel would include international travel to Horton mfg. plant in MX.
  • Travel 10%
