This position is 100% onsite at our Poway, CA location. The compensation for this role is $110,000 - $135,000 annually based on experience. This position requires a U.S Person or a person who can qualify for a Department of State or Department of Commerce License.
Essential Functions - Design, develop, document, test, and support digital electronic hardware for aerospace and defense products.
- Develop schematics and support PCB layout, fabrication, assembly, and board bring-up.
- Design processor, memory, FPGA, power, clocking, and communication interface circuitry.
- Perform component selection, design analysis, and engineering calculations.
- Support signal integrity, power integrity, timing, and interface analysis.
- Develop test procedures, test plans, and verification documentation.
- Debug and verify component, board, and system-level designs using laboratory equipment.
- Support hardware/software and FPGA integration activities.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical support to Manufacturing Engineering.
Responsibilities - Develop hardware designs that meet product performance, reliability, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Create schematics, design documentation, interface definitions, and engineering analyses.
- Work with PCB designers to define placement, routing, stack-up, impedance, and other layout requirements.
- Perform board bring-up, integration, troubleshooting, and verification.
- Evaluate components and technologies for new and existing designs.
- Investigate hardware defects and support root-cause and corrective-action activities.
- Participate in peer reviews and cross-functional engineering activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve design, test, and development processes.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Strong understanding of digital electronics and computer architecture.
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB design processes.
- Understanding of processors, FPGAs, memories, clocks, power supplies, and digital interfaces.
- Familiarity with high-speed digital design and signal integrity principles.
- Ability to read and interpret component datasheets and hardware specifications.
- Experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and other laboratory equipment.
- Familiarity with interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, DDR, SPI, I2C, UART, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with FPGA design or hardware description languages such as VHDL or Verilog is preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
Education / Experience - Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of relevant hardware or digital design experience.
- Master’s degree is a plus.
