Job Summary:The Electrical Controls Engineer Level I will support the design of industrial machinery controls used in the manufacture of high-efficiency, electric motor-driven industrial air compressors. This entry-level role supports various teams by delivering standard air compressor solutions that meet customer needs. The employee will develop knowledge of industrial air compressor solutions, with weekly work activities directed by the manager or senior team members.
Essential Job Duties:- Define product scope from sales orders, rough sketches, or verbal instructions with guidance.
- Create electrical designs for integrated power and control systems, such as VFDs and PLCs, with guidance.
- Collaborate with and learn from engineers within the department.
- Develop electrical schematics and panel designs, including detailed BOMs and engineering validation documentation, with guidance.
- Support the multi-stage design release process, including submittals and production release.
- Assist with product design activities for customer programs and industrial sales.
- Support customer-facing project coordination as defined by sales order timelines.
- Manage assigned projects with guidance, including support for sustaining projects and R&D development.
- Follow engineering best practices and represent the department professionally.
Additional Job Duties:- Support daily production and commissioning activities.
- Assist with technical requests for customer programs, projects, and field support.
- Assist in selecting components for product modifications, add-ons, retrofit kits, and sequencers.
- Provide support for sales orders, cost estimates, design consultation, and installations.
- Assist in identifying alternate parts for shortages or cost-savings initiatives.
- Participate in training and share technical information with team members and supporting departments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering field and 0-2 years of relevant experience.
- Foundational knowledge of electrical engineering product development and production support; familiarity with industrial three-phase systems, UL 508A, NEMA, and CSA standards is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of electrical panel fabrication and industrial wiring installation procedures, tools, and techniques, including industrial three-phase systems.
- Exposure to mechanical and electrical system integration.
- Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel up to 10% to job sites.
Preferred Skills:- Basic knowledge of electrical schematic design, assembly creation, and detailed drawing development; Creo, Windchill, or MicroStation experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with electrical controls and components, 4-20 mA signals, 480 VAC power wiring, 120 VAC control, 24 VDC control, and HMI controls.
- Ability to assist with hands-on field troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment and managing multiple assigned projects.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with a focus on customer care.
Physical Demands:- Exert force of up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 25-50 lbs. frequently, 10-20 lbs. constantly.
- Sitting at computer/desk for long periods of time.
- Standing, walking, moving on a production floor.

Pay Range:- $82,500 - $92,500 annually
