Full Job Description
About the role

The Electrical and Instrument Supervisor oversees electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities within a power generation environment. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this position leads daily maintenance planning, scheduling, execution, and backlog management for industrial electrical systems, instrumentation and controls, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), data acquisition systems, and related plant equipment.

This is an opportunity for an experienced power plant maintenance professional to lead a skilled team in a safety-focused, 24/7 operating environment. The Electrical and Instrument Supervisor will play a key role in improving equipment reliability, strengthening the preventive maintenance program, reducing downtime and repair costs, and developing employees while partnering closely with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, contractors, and plant leadership.

The Electrical and Instrument Supervisor directly supervises non-exempt maintenance personnel and serves as the primary point of contact with Operations for daily, weekly, and monthly work planning. Responsibilities include establishing priorities, resolving scheduling and equipment challenges, monitoring maintenance productivity and costs, supporting planned and unplanned outages, and periodically serving as a backup to the Maintenance Manager. Because operations run continuously, this position must participate in scheduled on-call coverage and be available to work weekends, nights, outages, or other assigned shifts based on operational needs.

Core Activities and Responsibilities
  • Develop daily, weekly, and monthly electrical and instrumentation maintenance work plans and schedules.
  • Supervise non-exempt maintenance employees and provide clear daily work direction.
  • Complete required daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance planning and execution reports.
  • Plan and oversee electrical and instrumentation work, including job scope, labor requirements, materials, cost estimates, schedules, and execution.
  • Support programmable logic control and data acquisition systems.
  • Serve as a backup to the Maintenance Manager when needed.
  • Promote safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible work practices.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of power plant maintenance experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of industrial electrical generation and distribution systems.
  • Experience with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control systems for industrial process equipment.
  • Experience with industrial programmable logic controllers, instrumentation and controls, and data acquisition systems.
  • Experience with Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance planning, scheduling, job setup, execution, and backlog management.
  • Project management experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with CMMS systems (Maximo, PeopleSoft, etc.).
  • Ability to prepare reports, spreadsheets, timesheets, emails, and maintenance records.
  • Ability to address performance and disciplinary matters professionally.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be able to wear a full-face respirator and perform physical work while wearing it.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, kneel, squat, and climb throughout an industrial work environment for extended periods.
  • Must be able to access multiple levels and industrial equipment areas.
  • Must be able to enter boilers, with or without scaffolding, to conduct inspections and monitor work.
  • May be required to assist with lifting or equipment repairs.
  • Must be able to work safely in an operating industrial power generation environment.
  • Must be available for scheduled on-call assignments and for weekend, night, outage, or other shift coverage as required by operational and equipment conditions.
