Job Description Summary
The Gas Turbine Test Electrical Advanced Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in supporting the Full-Speed No-Load (FSNL) Gas Turbine Test operations within the Greenville SC Gas Turbine Factory. The Electrical Test Engineer will be required to have a wide base of knowledge and practical skills across all types of electrical systems, up to 15kV, with a focus on Electrical Protection and High Voltage/Low Voltage Distribution equipment.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Promote and maintain a safety-first culture while supporting all electrical test and manufacturing activities.
  • Serve as a key member of the FSNL test team, providing technical expertise for electrical system design, commissioning, operation, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide primary technical direction for facility-based electrical projects, coordinating activities with internal engineering teams, contractors, and equipment vendors.
  • Collaborate closely with Mechanical and Process Engineering teams to understand overall system requirements and ensure electrical designs effectively support process and test systems.
  • Interface with electrical equipment suppliers throughout the procurement process, including RFQ development, technical evaluations, vendor drawing reviews, equipment testing, commissioning, and operations & maintenance planning.
  • Develop and review detailed electrical technical specifications for equipment such as power transformers, switchgear, MCCs, electrical panels, protection systems, and related distribution equipment.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement electrical safety procedures and technical instructions, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Own and maintain the SKM facility electrical model, supporting electrical system studies and analysis, including arc-flash assessments as required.
  • Maintain ownership and organization of electrical drawings, technical documentation, equipment records, and related engineering documents.
  • Provide day-to-day electrical engineering support to test operations to ensure safe, reliable, and successful Gas Turbine test execution.
  • Identify, document, and maintain electrical spare-parts requirements for facility and test electrical equipment.
  • Support root-cause analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution of electrical system issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on electrical system reliability, safety, maintainability, and test-facility performance.
  • Demonstrated experience with controls instrumentation/devices and the ability to troubleshoot instrumentation-related issues effectively.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or a 2-year degree in Electrical Technology with a minimum of 5 years of proven relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with electrical commissioning in power generation facilities, including electrical equipment testing and overall electrical system startup.
  • Working knowledge of electrical codes and standards applicable to large-scale energy systems.
  • Hands-on experience testing and commissioning:
    • Switchgear
    • Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
    • Power distribution panels
    • Protection relays
    • Transformers and associated electrical distribution equipment


  • Strong understanding of electrical protection systems and protection schemes.
  • Working knowledge of power electronics and electrical controls equipment.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and operational requirements simultaneously.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems, develop practical solutions, and clearly communicate technical findings and recommendations.


Desired Characteristics
  • Power Generation Commissioning Experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical or electric power construction, installation, operation or maintenance with conventional or renewable power plant, transmission or distribution systems in electric power utilities, power equipment manufacturing, high-voltage and high-power equipment testing.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Problem analysis and resolution skills.
  • SKM Power Modeling/Arc Flash Analysis experience
