ABOUT THE ROLEThe EHS Manager ensures Environmental, Health & Safety leadership at the site, aligning plant strategic goals to EHS requirements. This role leads improvement objectives consistent with enterprise-wide standards. Your purpose is to anticipate risks, influence a culture of safety, and enable business continuity-making EHS a business advantage, not a checklist. You will leverage your technical, legal & operational knowledge in EHS to effectively communicate with & educate the workforce on best practices.
The safety of our employees is our No 1 priority!KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Take responsibility to drive EHS objectives together with the management team, reinforcing the safety culture.
- Facilitate EHS improvements involving all site functional departments, by developing delegation of EHS accountability and developing their EHS skill to deploy EHS management processes.
- As a member of the plant management team you are contributing to EHS KPIs for the plant, engaging all stakeholders on prevention and compliance.
- Directs development, maintenance, and achievement of goals in support of corporate and division EHS strategic initiatives including Tenneco EHS sustainability efforts.
- Supports and facilitates risk assessment at the location to identify critical EHS hazards and aspects. Works with leadership team to create targets and objectives based on key EHS risks.
- Organize certifications and interfaces with external authorities to prevent adverse findings and enforcement actions.
- Pursues third party recognition when required (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001 registration) for programs that establish the site and Tenneco's EHS program as world class.
- Ensure environmental permits, submission of required reports and maintenance of data are properly managed for the site.
- Facilitate and support the investigation of EHS Events (includes near misses, releases and losses) to determine root causes and prepare/direct corrective and preventive actions plans.
- Uses established EHS data processes, such as Enablon, to manage data such as injuries and illnesses, environmental metrics, risk assessments, EHS action items and other pertinent information.
- Create EHS training matrices to ensure that all training is defined and tracked to completion.
JOB REQUIREMENTS- Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Professional certifications are preferred (Safety Professional, Industrial Hygienist, Hazardous Material Manager, or relevant country equivalents).
- Min 3-5 years of experience in leading an EHS function/program within a manufacturing environment with a focus on safety culture & employee training.
- Strategic vision and communication skills related to EHS engagement.
- Proven experience pursuing operational excellence within EH&S.
