Job Summary:

As an EHS Manager at Caterpillar, you'll play a key leadership role in driving environmental, health, and safety initiatives across the facility. This position is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive EHS programs, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements, and fostering a culture of safety and sustainability. You'll provide strategic direction and hands-on support to hourly, salaried, and management personnel, guiding them in identifying and mitigating risks.

The role involves leading training efforts, managing incident reporting systems, and collaborating across departments to support corporate EHS strategy. With a focus on continuous improvement, you'll monitor performance metrics, conduct audits, and champion best practices that contribute to a safer, more sustainable workplace.

What You Will Do:
  • Lead EHS Programs: Develop, implement, and manage environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Training & Development: Provide EHS training and guidance to employees at all levels, promoting a strong safety culture and continuous improvement.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and other applicable standards.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, and compliance activities, and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to integrate EHS considerations into business decisions and drive sustainable practices.

What skills you will have:

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Compliance: Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations, with proven knowledge applying these standards in an industrial or manufacturing setting, this type of EHS experience is required for the role. Proficiency in managing compliance activities through internal and external tools is essential, including handling self-assessments, compliance calendar tasks, audits, corrective actions, incident tracking, and regulatory reporting.

Risk Management: Applicants must be skilled in identifying potential hazards, conducting risk assessments, and implementing mitigation strategies. Knowledge of risk matrices, High Energy identification, critical controls, Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies, and incident management processes is critical for maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.

Problem Solving: A high level of analytical thinking is required to address complex EHS challenges and drive continuous improvement. Familiarity with structured problem-solving tools like Fishbone diagrams, Pareto analysis, and Six Sigma methodologies is important for making data-driven decisions.

Collaborating: Strong collaboration skills are necessary to work effectively across departments and influence safety culture. Knowledge in a leadership role with direct reports is preferred, as it supports the ability to guide teams, foster engagement, and drive alignment on EHS initiatives. Candidates should be comfortable using tools like Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Workday to communicate, share updates, and coordinate efforts across functions.

Additional Information:

This position requires the candidate to work onsite five days a week at the Menominee, MI office.

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
