Full Job Description
We are seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager who will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs that ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations while promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization. This position partners with leadership, supervisors, and employees to reduce workplace risks, prevent injuries, protect the environment, and drive continuous improvement in EHS performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Safety Management
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Lead investigations of workplace incidents, injuries, near-misses, and property damage events.
  • Develop and monitor corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Coordinate emergency response planning and disaster preparedness activities.
  • Manage contractor safety programs and compliance requirements.

Environmental Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and permits, including EPA, state, and local requirements.
  • Manage air, water, stormwater, hazardous waste, and chemical management programs.
  • Coordinate environmental reporting and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Lead sustainability and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Monitor environmental performance metrics and recommend improvements.

Training and Employee Engagement
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, supervisors, and management.
  • Facilitate new hire safety orientation and ongoing safety awareness programs.
  • Promote employee participation in safety committees and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop communications that reinforce safety and environmental expectations.

Regulatory and Compliance Management
  • Maintain current knowledge of EHS laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Serve as the primary contact for regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Prepare required reports and maintain compliance documentation.
  • Manage workers' compensation programs and coordinate return-to-work efforts as applicable.

Leadership and Continuous Improvement
  • Analyze EHS performance data and identify trends.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Lead continuous improvement projects focused on risk reduction and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and HR departments to ensure EHS objectives are met.
  • Support corporate EHS initiatives and strategic goals.

Qualifications:

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Experience
  • 5+ years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing OSHA compliance programs and environmental permits.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Certifications (Preferred)
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST)
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 Auditor Certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Strong leadership and employee engagement skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare reports.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment, hazard analysis, and corrective action processes.
  • Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS management systems.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent walking throughout manufacturing and warehouse environments.
  • Ability to stand, bend, climb stairs, and occasionally climb ladders.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Exposure to manufacturing environments including noise, heat, moving equipment, and industrial chemicals.
