Full Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

Manage the day-to-day maintenance and monitoring of EHS programs, procedures, and policies at a site. Main programs include ergonomics, machine safety, lockout/tagout, PPE, Job Hazard Assessments, Hazard Communication, contractor safety, hazardous waste management. Complete EHS metrics, lead accident and hazard investigations and recommend corrective action. Conduct and prepare the format for periodic EHS inspections and / or site audits. This position is also responsible for assisting with the top sustainability initiatives for the site.

  • Develops, maintains, and enforces safety policies and procedures in accordance with all local, state, federal regulations, and company EHS program requirements
  • Ensures compliance with EHS regulations and codes and acts as liaison to regulatory agency personnel
  • Manages the employee safety training program, including developing and delivering training curricula and driving/tracking employee participation
  • Provide technical knowledge in the development of EHS controls, programs, and general workplace hazard control strategies.
  • Conduct EHS reviews for new product development, facility modification, product manufacturing modifications and new equipment/machinery installations.
  • Specifies the procurement and maintenance of safety equipment inventory to ensure that onsite personnel have adequate protection from workplace hazards.
  • Reviews the procurement of chemicals and materials purchased, including the maintenance of the library of SDS’s
  • Oversees emergency response activities and manages site’s emergency response team
  • Responsible for promoting a strong safety culture through outreach initiatives as well as employee and management engagement
  • Complete job safety, ergonomic and PPE analysis.
  • Manages contractor safety program
  • Manages site workers compensation program and lead incident investigations
  • Manage incidents, hazard id’s, near misses, safety inspections, and safety audits using the site’s safety, health and environmental database (SHED).
  • Manages the site’s ergonomics program
  • Conducts site audits for compliance with company global standards
  • Manages and maintains day-to-day EHS programs at the site, including new employee orientation, EHS management systems, and regulatory record keeping and reporting
  • Administers company compliance with regulatory permits. Prepares applications, interpreted regulations and maintains written EHS programs as necessary.
  • Collects safety metrics and conducts trend analysis
  • Provides oversight to safety committee.
  • Facilitate and grow the site behavior-based safety program.
  • Qualifications/Experience:
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the safety or environmental field preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize, evaluate, and recommend controls for workplace hazards.
  • Demonstrated ability to determine training needs, organize and conduct training.
  • Demonstrated skills in machine safety, ergonomics and building safety culture programs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required, including the ability to interact with senior management and large employee groups.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheet, and slide presentations required.
  • Excellent communication skills in a variety of medium (PowerPoint charts, written reports & memoranda, and verbal).
